Deepika On Elle India: (Un)Covered

Comment image 40

It may seem like we have seen too much of Deepika this month, being that she was on both of Femina’s December covers(check them out inside), but while those two looked outdated, Elle’s cover is fresher than Femina’s.

Our only gripe was that Elle passed on the more OTT outfits from Manish Arora’s Spring collection.

  1. Stunning.
Deepika is wearing the clothes and not the other way around. She has lovely bones, terrific body language and the simplicity of here eyes adds to her personality. She does such justice to these clothes.

  2. The ELLE covershoot looks good, but the second one is fringe overload. Not liking the styling as well as the pose at all. I don’t know how are the other pages, but the covershoot doesn’t flow with the inside page. Not sure if there was a theme or story for the photoshoot.

  3. Ofcourse Deepika is a stunner.
But it’s the clothes we are talking about and the bule and purple “FRINGED” dress and boots do not complement the photo cover. Bad choice by the magazine cover designer.

  4. i love the purple boots. deepika has the legs to carry them off. short people like me unfortunately will probably look silly in the same stuff.

  5. of course deepika looks fabulous..but the clothes are a bit too OTT for me..i agree with the comment about the fringe overload..and the gold dress would have been better without the ribbons..

  6. Finally a cover shoot that deepika looks good in and like a supermodel, instead of a wannabe (femina covers soo dull)

don’t mind the cover dress, even with the crazy ribbons.
The fringe dress is awful and looks like it was cut out and stuck on her body, strange, maybe the pose makes it look weird?

  7. Why does Deepika have the same bland expressionless pose in all her covers. They all look the same to me.

But saying tht she is a STUNNER and looks fabulous on ELLE. I hope she changes her pose next time round though. It is getting rather repetitive. Lovee u girl!

  8. She’s already 6′ feet tall, lies about her height to make herself seem shorter, so how tall is this girl with these boots?! haha

She looks great and makes anything work. But agreed, fringe overload but she makes it work!

  9. Tanika: there’s nothing wrong with being 6 feet tall. Gisele Bundchen is 5’11” and Elle MacPherson is six feet tall. It’s only in India that tall girls are made to feel bad about their statuesque height.

    • Girls who’re that tall look not-so-feminine accoring to me. Especially Indian girls. They look best petite and pretty. Does anyone think that deepika is unproportionate? Her face is way too small for her body.Look at the second pic!

  10. agree with Ritu. nothing wrong wid a girl bng 6′ tall! it’s d guys who feel ‘dwarfed’ (pun intended) so its really their problem. anyway, DP looks nice. those boots are Louboutin alright, and must b outrageously expensive, but i bought a similar pair in brown (shorter heel) from Ross last week for $45. long live ROSS!

  11. it seems to me that India Elle covers are the best!
I don’t even know why I have girl crush on her, she doesn’t even seem to be nice person, but i do…
although, I have to say, she should change her hair, it talkes all of the funk out of her outfits (EVEN the MA with the Loub. boots)

  12. Ritu: I didn’t say anything was wrong. I was just stating that she’s 6′ feet and she has to lie about her being shorter than what she is. And I agree with you that its only in India you’re made to feel bad about being tall, too dark, wear eyelglasses, and etc. I think some of those attributes are beautiful.

  13. @Ritu: Nothing wrong. But only few indian men are topping 6. Taller women (5’10 plus)can’t be paired with those who are usually 5’9 average. Maybe that’s the issue.

  14. she looks great on Elle.. whereas in other photographs she looks a lil tired, dont you think?
other than that.. what is that weird fringe costume?? it doesnt even deserve a mention as a dress!

  15. lol Tanika, that is true. In fact the very fact that she’s forced to lie about her height shows how intolerant our culture is of height on women!

  16. @ Tanika: I don’t think she lies about her height, and how do you know that shes 6′ tall? In OSO, she didnt seem like much taller than SRK and in BAH she did appear shorter than Ranbir..although there were time she was wearing heels and did match him.

  17. Yep…I myself am 5 10 and it was really not fun in India when people wld just stare like I was some kinda freak and then I came here (US) for college and being tall was an added asset. So really, being tall if you are a Indian makes all the aunties (who you just met a minute back) worry about how you gonna find an Indian guy!! LOL

But, back to Deepika…she does look gorgeous on the Elle cover….much better compared to the Femina one.

  18. Because in one of her interviews on B4U she mentioned her height and then in Filmfare it was written. Then when she was asked on some show, I want to say Dus Ka Dum (i might be wrong), she said she was 5’8 – 5’9. So I figured she was trying to conceal it because we can’t tell by looking at the screen the exact height of anyone. Either way tall or short, I like this girl!

  19. @ me, srk did admit that for some scenes in om shanti om he had to stand on a box next to deepika. she’s taller than him but just a tad shorter than ranbir.

  20. @ tanika – i believe you, but it just seems weird that someone would lie about their height, because you can tell by looking at the person if they are 6′ tall!! i mean that’s a very extraordinary height for a woman anywhere in the world, even caucasians…

you can lie about your age, and noone can prove it one way or other, but how can you say you are 6′ tall one day and then 5’9″ another.. haha just very perplexing,, not discrediting you but if Deepika did it, she’s being really silly. as long as the offers come, who cares how tall or fat you are

  21. Yes sheeba, I also feel you. I am even taller and you but have gotten over my complex (and yes, it was implanted by those same aunties with ‘mmatrimonial concerns’ 🙂 ) but now I’m really damn proud of my height & looks. Don’t ever listen to anyone who’s trying to make you feel bad about yourself 🙂

  22. its changing in the metros now. No more is it as bad to be “Savla rung” and “Lambi”, I think thanks to all these girls who are breaking the proverbial glass ceiling. About the marriage thingie…all aunts are hideous, and you will realise it many years later, but by then the scarring is done 🙂

  23. I didn’t know being tall was one of the major issues, or maybe I never had to experience as I can only wish to be that tall.
I don’t think Deepika lied about her height due to society pressure. Are we sure she is 6 ft tall?

  24. she is 5.9″. check yr facts!!
#someone actually says she is taller than gisele bundchen?? haha no way!
