Keeping It Simple

It was a classic button-down shirt and denims for Ms. Padukone at a recent book launch… You like? And, don’t miss the guy (in the middle picture) holding Deepika’s tan Birkin for her. 🙂

  1. The denim actually has a Jeggin-Legging fitting due to which the tucked in shirt makes her look so bottom heavy.

I would advise her to untuck the shirt and put on a extended shoulder jacket and ya me hate that hair and makeup.

I wonder why our bollywood babes are not indulging in Orange lipstick. Its really hot

    • I agree with you about untucking the shirt and adding a slouchy a la Rhea jacket. However, I do like her hair and make up. She would have looked better if she had carried the birkin herself. Hate her shoes.

      • If she had untucked the shirt and added a slouchy jacket, then she would be criticized for copying Rheas/ Sonams look.

I guess you cant please some people. haha!

  2. It should work, but it doesn’t. To pull this look off you have to look very neat and put together. If you want to look sloppy you have to look intentionally sloppy. The only person I’ve ever seen go for that look in Bollywood is Rhea Kapoor, which is interesting because it’s definitely the trend at the moment.
She just doesn’t look confident in her own skin. At all, and the hair is horrible. It’s as if she thinks that she’s in a pageant dress or something.

    • If you want to go for simple classic style, the individual pieces should be really really good quality if u kno wat I mean ..like the shirt and the jeans have to be perfectly fitting and looking fab.. and then finish the look with something interesting…like use ur imagination a little bit …. and then all u need to add is a nice belt , watch and shades… funnily enough deepika does tht but still doesnt get it to work

    • Agree with you as well. 🙂
But then,we can’t expect much from Deepika. She definitely doesn’t have a good dressing sense.

  3. this look (tight white shirt tucked in with narrow leg denim) was revived some years ago, but now it’s just boring if we were to talk about fashion. keeping aside the fashion, trend, then she looks beautiful.

  4. Yes she should not tuck the shirt in. Hair is still ok considering everything else is so wrong about this look. wrong footwear.
Lol! that guy is holding her birkin.Wait! how do you know its hers??
She is not know for her sense of style anyway.I like her smile thats one thing she gets right everytime.

  5. A simple pony-tail (pulled back hair, with NO fringe), a better fitting shirt, better skinnies and an orange lipstick would have made this so much better.
She does look good when she smiles, though.

p.s.: WHY should someone else hold her Birkin? I mean, really!?!

  6. I would have prefered the ” tuck out look’ and perhaps a nude / beige suede pumps. Nuetral colors with dark colored jeans fairs much better.

  8. U know.. Indian never ear Brian Atwood or Casdeii pumps.. these in a tan colour may have rescued the look.. I do like the overall look.. its neither very bad nor very good.. just too casual for a book launch

  9. I love the look, the shirt, the denims and the hair. the only think killing it for me are those stupid shoes and her stupid ankle tattoo. yuck! I think her denims are totally fine, its the angle of the picture that is makind her look bottom heavy!

    How gorgeous is that smile?
    AND THAT KILLER BOD!!!
and yayyy for someone who doesnt show off her birkin!

    • Yayy for someone who doesn’t show off her Birkin!? Outrageous! She’s making a guy hold it for her and you think she’s being humble!? Wow.

      Reply
      • I never said she is being humble. I havent seen any pictures of this event with her carrying that tan birkin, so we all are ASSUMING its hers right? In 3 occasions I saw her with the tan birkin, she wasnt flaunting it on her arm (anu dewan style), rather carrying it like what its meant to be. i.e., a Bag. That explained my statement above.

And why it is bothering you guys so much if someone holds her birkin? Especially in bolly land where people carry umbrellas, water bottles, fetch chai paani and the hand-pankha for the stars! Lets not be too judgemental here ok?

        • when u have a designer bag in the crowd, which is known more for its social status than its quality, it’s obviously about flaunting regardless of how u carry.

          Reply
          • Agreed duh. 🙂 It’s the way you carry your bag…she should have carried it normally and not how Anu Dewan does it. And deepika is not a mega-star. Even people like Aamir and Shahrukh carry their own umbrellas. Humility is a must.

  10. Hate this look from top to bottom. The shirt is ugly, bad denims and hair and make-up is SO,so bad. :/
Get rid of that fringe please Deepika. It’s horrible

  11. if you can’t carry ur own bag, don’t own it. Hollywood celebs often have assistants carry stuff for them, but at least those assistants are relatively well paid – definitely not the case here. seeing someone carry her bag for her is distracting me too much from commenting on her outfit. ridiculous.

  12. Why all the hate? I know Deepika isn’t a favorite around here, and in my opinion, she’s definitely not a fashionista, but she looks elegant and simple – so simple, in fact, that I can’t find a single flaw in what she’s wearing.

All this criticism seems to be a case of nitpicking an unpopular celebrity.

    • u liked her look, but others didn’t, especially this site being a fashion related, and fashion is about now, hence the criticism. i think all the celebs are nitpicked in this website, especially sonam. we don’t even bother to comment on some ppl/celebrities featured here because they are the unpopular celebrities. nobody even bothers about them.

    • Its something I have seen on HHC too. The more successful the celebrity like Priyanka, Deepika, Vidya, Rani Mukherjee etc the more unpoplar they become on HHC. The comments seem a bit too personal and judgemental. Rarely do people keep the comments directed on the clothes and the HHC moderators also are a little lax with their moderation. Strange

      • OMG .. I had to comment after reading this comment of yours!
No offences, but you sound like you worship Deepika!!

I have been a long time reader of this blog and sometimes comment too, but I have never found the moderators being lax when it comes to comments on certain celebrities .. yeah, of late some people have said they are being biased towards Sonam, but it’s their blog – they can write what they feel —

And yes, it’s true that Deepika does not have a style which is expected of someone who’s been in the modelling industry and acting business for so long .. maybe it’s because she likes to be simple and de-glam , but we are allowed to comment, right??

  13. i dont think she keeps the guy to carry her birkin, i think she merely handed it to him during the shoot. i agree with whoever said, why fuss when there are atleast 3 ramus per person carrying pankha-paani. i’d have been a little more critical if they were at the airport and he was carrying her handbag behind here. while posing for a pic we’re all known to hand any extras to friends/family around us. why not to the guy who is paid to hang around her?
