From Real Life To Runway

For two ‘Fiama Di Wills’ events last week, Deepika got to wear Suneet Verma’s latest collection that was just previewed at Couture Week today. We don’t see Deepika in saris much and I wish she would wear them more often because she looks so tall and statuesque in them. As for the gown, considering Mr. Verma’s are so much more elaborate with many details, this one worked for me because it had just one big focal point, the flower at the waist.

  1. love her in both outfits and to top it off she is actually wearing a sari blouse, her saree is draped beautifully, i think the fact that she is so tall helps.

  2. Um…I think the sari is a bit…tawdry…?
I’m not into that sort of thing, that yellow sari Ash wore is as blingly as I would go (and even then)
but that dress is FAB, and look at her, Miss Tall Goddess- rub it in my face will you?
The hair is blah-if all of it was pulled back with the bottom dress I would have died (from I-hate-you-tall-woman-not-really overload)

  3. Love both ensembles- Suneet’s design aesthetic is so feminine, graceful and elegant. For once Deepika looks like the breathtakingly gorgeous woman that she is, instead of the slightly pretty girl next door that her poorly-put together outfits usually make her look like.
The sari looks delicate and prettily intricate on Deepika, but fierce and slightly garish on the model. Since the embroidery is so elaborate, I’m glad she kept the jewellery and make-up minimal.
The red of the dress combined with the draping makes it look richly sensuous. Usually I would disapprove of red footwear with a red dress, but here the shoes just contribute to the over-all luxuriance of that fabulous red.
These are the best looks I’ve seen by any Indian designer on this site.

  4. 5’9 height, 2′ inch hair height…. and 3 inches of heel….. that makes her 6’2.. OMG… i think i’m, jealous of her “tallness”

  5. She really looks good in both the outfits. The sari makes her looks very soft and feminine, it does age her a little bit but will take that over tranny and trashy any day. And she is glowing in the second red outfit. Me likes 🙂
