We haven’t seen others but seems like Deepika pretty much killed it at the Filmfare South Awards in her Sabya sari. Here is your look while we wait for official pictures.

      • I wish people would understand that nobody deliberately does greasy makeup. The weather and humidity at a certain place affect the look. C’mon, it’s not like actresses are not human to sweat in the heat!

        • except Gauri! everywhere, i repeat everywhere she looks greasy!! Maybe she needs a good primer. But in this case, yes. the room in which the awards were held might have been hot & humid.

    • I ma with you on this Veethi..the half sari is pretty but somhow she is not able to work it..doesnt look good on her..something is wrong and it is a simple pretty dress and she has tried too hard to make it work and lost it…

  1. I may well be in the minority but that’s an awful outfit. In theory it looks like it could be great but when it all comes together not at all.

  2. She looks beautiful, but i am just not digging the outfit. It looks like designers these days just spin the wheel, and then stitch together some random swatches of fabric and call it high fashion

  3. what the hell is she wearing..and how can one person look completely breathtaking one day and then simply horrid the next day!!! indian wear is definitely not her cup of tea

  4. Really like the blouse…how smart that all the embroidery is on one side…Half sari s good, lehenga, not my cup of tea..
Whole look has too much going on..
Btw whats with deepika’s makeup…it used to be fab…now its greasy..
But with all things above, she does look fantastic..

  5. Everything is beautiful on its own but somehow when it all comes together its a bit much..the blouse I agree is gorgeous!! For the weather, I wish she’d chosen something a little less complicated or maybe fresher/lighter colours.
I also felt that the border of the saree/dupatta takes it away from the embroidery of the blouse – yea wish she hadn’t worn’em together..

  6. There’s just so much going on in that outfit! The blouse and dupatta are beautiful together, but the skirt just looks disconnected. It would have worked if he’d maybe had a kitschier style blouse to go with the skirt or showcased just one technique and let it shine, dont you think? If one looks at traditional patchwork like the Lambani and Rabari women sometimes wear, they somehow make it work either by mixing similar prints or colours, or by overlaying with gudari stitches.

  7. She looks decent in this not so wow worthy saree.I have to admit she rarely rocks in a saree;she looks her best in western clothes.Maybe she should try something like kanjeevaram,it would create the right amount of fullness for her.

  8. like the chuni with the dots but the blouse is too busy to go with it, should have been a plain black blouse.
because of the hairstyle & makeup the look seems unfinished and not good. She should have opted for bright pink lipstick and bindi, and plaited hair or so.

  9. That’s an ‘half sari’and most South Indian girls can relate to it. This look is an amalgamation of north & south, traditional & classical with a contemprory twist. Sadly, neither worked. Having said that, there is no denying Dippy is gorgeous:)

  10. Too much happening in the outfit. Either blouse should have been plain or the lehenga/skirt should have been in monotones and the same dupatta/half saree part.

  11. Too much going on! The skirt looks pretty, but the dupatta or davani should’ve just had a border, the embroidery on the blouse just isn’t working for me either. Common Deepika we were starting to have faith in you!

  12. The blouse is great, but let’s face it, the skirt is terrible! Sabyasachi’s prints are usually a lot more awe-inspiring than that drab combination.

  13. Am I the only one who is reminded of Mary Katrantzous floral rainbow printed clothes? It just has that vibe with the Indianness to it, I suppose x

  14. The dupatta and blouse part is perfect. Deepika looks great. But the skirt is another story – if Sabya had not put in the light green patch, and had gone with another darker colour, or different print in the same colour, then it would have worked.

  15. O dear wat was Sabaya thinking when he designed this. looks like he was having a bad day. What a let down I think he should stick to designing sari and not patch work half saree. Its odd seeing Deepika having a good run with outfits she managed to pick the ugliest design. Forget the makeup Chennai weather is unforgiving.

  16. Gorgeous waist up. Waist down, a different story. Cant believe someone paired all these pieces together. Brilliant blouse, gorgeous pallu and a hideous skirt.

    • Exactly!! I love the blouse and the dupatta but I don’t like the lengha. I think a simpler lengha would’ve looked way better. But no doubt Deepika looks fantastic.

  17. Nothing is working in this look. Don’t like the half sari. Blouse individually is good but not going well with this half sari. Makeup is not working too.

  18. ummm..not feeling it. she certainly looks better in pic 2 & 3, but don’t like the first one due to heavy makeup & bad hair style..she does fare much better in western outfits.

  19. somehow iam just not feeling this look of deepika at all. the lehnega seems too busy with those layers. the blouse is nice but overall the look falls flat!

  20. I think people are forgetting these are taken from random angles, and in some places inadequate lighting. She still manages to look good. As far as those howling greasy makeup – seriously guys, chennai humidity would have laid us on the floor by now!!

  21. The blouse per se is gorgeous but the overall outfit is soo ” meh ” .I dont get Deepika wearing such high neck blouses, it makes her look unflatteringly taller and the hair do and the make up add to the woes

  22. Its a Pavadai Dhavani and not saree.
I think the individual pieces are gorgeous but together they look a little overwhelming. Yet DP look gorgeous in it.

  23. This is a god awful outfit. Just because it’s a Sabyasachi doesn’t automatically make it amazing. I’m a fan of his, but I think this outfit is horrible.

  24. It could be Sabya but that skirt is fugly. If only MM came up with this, i can totally imagine the hate comments. Kudos to Deepika to carry it this well. One a shorter frame this could have been a disaster. Agree with few others, western clothes fit her body type well rather than saris.
