In Naeem Khan

For the premiere of XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Deepika sported a sequin gold Naeem Khan gown that showed off plenty of décolleté with its plunging neckline.

Considering that we just saw Ms. Chopra in a similar look, I really wish Ms. Padukone had saved this look for a whole later. Consider yourself warned, your Instagram timeline is about to get bombarded with their side by side pics. 😛

Having said that though, she wears the gown really well, but am not a fan of the eye-makeup. I prefer eyes that are rimmed all the way with kajal, not half way.

Think she sparkled in more ways than one here?

  1. The white washing has begun now that she’s in India. The dress is quite striking and she looks good overall though she doesn’t look too confortabke in it.

    • Not a fan of whitewashing too. i think all indian makeup artists can’t help but use lighter foundations. She looked younger while in Mexico and Us. I think it might have been Hung Vango’s magic.

  2. My eyes…all that shine has done a number on them…:P
But really I don’t understand her penchant for gold/beige/cream. Once in while we get a sighting of other colors then we are back to beige/white/cream…
@ Payal – I too like my kajal going all the way..:)

    • What is the right way to apply kajal? Inside the lower eyelid, or outside the eye under the lash line? I wore kajal yesterday and look like a raccoon now!

      • There is no right way. Some prefer a thin line on the inside of the eye. I wear mine smudged in and under the eye. You have to get used to the look if you’ve never worn it. 🙂

      • It all depends upon one’s eyes’ shape. Foe example half kajal look (the one Eepika is sporting here) works wel on small eyes. The trick is to elongate the small eyes n make them appear bigger. This eyemakeup would work wel on the likes of Alia n Anoushka. For the women like Deepika who have big eyes, full rimmed eyes with kajal looks attractive. So if you have small eyes or deep set ones, half rimmed look will work wel. You can smudge a bit undeneath too(only on outer corners). On inner half(both in n under), you can go for lighter shades like light grey or even silver tone eyeshadow for night outs. And if you have big eyes, you are lucky. Go for full rimmed look n smudge a little underneath from outer corner to inner corner of the eyes! Hope this would help you!

  3. She looks good, but it looks incomplete. Would have liked to see some colour on her face at least. That being said, why wear a gown with a train if you’re going to have to hold it up like that?

  4. I don’t think her stylist is taking any interest as to where she should wear what! This should have been her London premiere outfit or not at all since everyone will compare to PC’s who looked better. Wearing such a plunging neckline at an Indian premier with press interviews where she’s been adjusting the dress the whole time doesn’t make for a good look. Just shows she isn’t confident. Should have worn that awful red Stella for India because now all will be talking about her copying Priyanka and her awkward cleavage. Hair makeup perfect again.

  5. She looks so much fairer now. Do people put makeup over their whole bodies? Doesn’t it stain the clothes? I’m really clueless. She looks pretty nonetheless but dusky skin is attractive too.

    • Its not just the makeup and obviously no one puts makeup on their entire body! Deepika is of a wheatish hue. And Indian journalists have a habit of using too much white flash. So she and other wheat/caramel skinned actresses ends up looking much more fair-skinned than they are.

Check out their pictures of Radhika Aptes on red carpet vs how she looks in movies! Even she is excessively whiteeee.

ITs like those Fair and Lovely ads. They put too much lighting and so even Yami Gupta looks like an LED bulb YKWIM?

    • They do use whole body makeup. It is common in any Indian movie industry. Most thrive on whitewashing. lol. I heard they put a base of some serum before the makeup is done on the body so it does not stick on the clothes. Not sure of the name though. Read few articles written by makeup artists speaking about how difficult it is to do makeup for people like Amala Paul and others and it did get a lot of flak(trade secrets were let out) and the MUAs had to apologize. LOL!

      • Please check the second row pictures. The picture in the middle has less flash and the picture in the right corner has excessive flash and she looks 10 shades lighter. I work with the advertising industry. Its how we can make even Ajay Devgn look fair skinned though I have met him in real life and he’s dark as night.

  6. She looks good! I’m not sure if the Indian red carpet is the right place though. As someone’s mentioned I instantly started to compare it with PC’s recent gold number. This deep ‘V’ necks is really trending..wonder how far it’ll go. Looking forward to all the award shows.

  7. I don’t the understand this pc thing you mentioned. Priyanka Chopra is not the only woman to have worn a gold gown with a plunging neckline. We get versions of these gowns every year on the red carpet. Deepika in fact wore a similar silver gown on the red carpet few years ago. If people are only going to talk about her cleavage then it’s their fault not really hers.

  8. Ouch my eyes……..
Ralph Lauren gown dint hurt my eyes the way this naeem khan gown is.
Btw as some one mentioned above, she should have swapped naeem khan and stella mccartney gowns for the events

  9. I am suprised how no one mentioned about the back of the gown (pic in which she is bending). I know its a pattern but looks real bad, as if its all torned/ripped not intentionally but because of wear n tear due to usage!

  10. What’s with the “across the waist” hand pose? It looks like she is trying to hold the plunging neckline from dipping even lower! She looks uncomfortable and the bling is not flattering. She looks dull and tired (maybe the jetlag and traveling). Very disappointing outings for DP in the recent past, especially on global platforms!

  11. Never thought i would see Deepika in an outfit she doesn’t seem comfortable in..but here we are! Arms folded across to avoid d dress revealing more..why dips why? So much potential n this ! Am disappointed….

  12. I would have preferred her in Indian attire with flowers in hair sort of thing. Just because it is an international project does not mean you need such a boob show! She should have represented India since the premier is in Mumbai not Las Vegas (looking at her dress choice makes me wonder)!!!

  13. IS that optical illusion or is the dress losing some of its sequins from the bottom? I can see this lines and patterns all across the skirt area.

  14. Disappointing! Promotions for her first international film and she looks incredibly tired in all of them! And this gown doesn’t look like its from a celebrity designer like Naeem Khan at all , such a tackfest!

  15. Given all the hype for the Indian premiere of this, really thought she would wear a nice saree, like the one at the Ram Leela launch. This gown works because of her statuesque frame, but nevertheless, doesn’t seem like a memorable look from her.

  16. She looks nice but does not have the “wow” factor. Since we have seen her doing this beige/gold many times. She did seem uncomfortable in the videos and the lungi dance…why though. lol.

  17. She looks more exhausted than anything else. I guess all that jetting around would’ve caught up with her eventually. Any other day and she would’ve been slaying in that dress.
