In Tommy Hilfiger

Wearing an embellished satin-silk slip dress by Tommy Hilfiger, Deepika attended the Met Gala in New York tonight. A diamanté headband in place, the actor finished out the look with statement earrings, cat-eye and nude-ish lip.

Did the dress fit in with the theme? Not quite.
Did Deepika work her look? She did.
Did we expect more from her at the Met Gala? You bet we sure did!

P.S: Did you know we ran in to her as she was headed to a Vogue/Met Gala after party? See this!

  1. Very princessy and she looks lovely. Love her makeup and hair accesories. Yes she is off the theme. But more than that I am just amazed that she got the invite for the MET gala after being there just for 5 months. Hats off. P.s you should have posted the back of the dress.

      • Vogue USA wrote an entire article about her getting ready and behind the scenes to her look which showed a personalized note from Tommy Hilfiger as well. I am not sure if she was representing the brand but she likely was invited to attend.

      • Buying tickets is the least likely way to get in no matter which pedigree you belong to since its ruthlessly vetted by Anna Wintour. Plus Deepika was invited by Tommy Hilfiger, the invitation was posted on Twitter

    • She is representing Loreal Paris India at the event. She received the invite in Dec’16. That’s before she debuted in Hollywood.
Loreal Paris India has tweeted about this!

  2. So so underwhelming.
With her fabulous body and poise, she can choose to wear literally anything but she chose this negligee *facepalm*
I think she should get Anaita back pronto!

  3. Right look but wrong event. I feel like for all my usual complaints about her stylist shaleena this would have been the one place where DP should have stuck with her since shaleena loves to experiment. She looked great but it’s such a bore for the met gala though I loved the makeup and hair.

  5. When they went to Hollywood I expected some good stuff from DP and PC. But there is not a mm of personality between them both. They are good looking and tall and toned and styled and very boring. DP especially so but even PC with her faux-outre clothes (PC trench coat falls into Kim K territory yeah?). Neither are at Fan Bingbing “queen” level in any way.

Of those who headed West, Freida is the only one so far who knows and understands fashion. She sticks to the classics and does well.

    • They are doing different jobs yo. Fan Bingbing is a model. These girls are actresses now. They had better be known for their acting and stuff.

Plus, PC was very on-point with the theme. It is like you cannot judge someone’s halloween costume for how they dress in real life.

      • This begs the perennial question of should actresses be featured! They get featured because of eyeballs and their clothes are perpetually scrutinised in blogs dedicated to fashion so no point in going but they are actresses. Plus let’s face it they lie on the “actress-lite” side of the business and image and fashion is important for their career and endorsements. So I stand by my viewpoint that they bring nothing to the glamour game beyond the usual vanilla that fills instagram and fashion victims imaginations. And sorry but PC was very Kim K and nowhere near Comme de Garcons.

FBB is very much an awarded actress btw. Doesn’t take long to check wiki. And DP and PC also started with ads and Miss Worlds and what not.

    • totally agree with AM ….these days kim k has become a bench mark in fashion….there is no design concept nor aesthics nor personalities nor understanding

    • True, I miss the fact that we don’t have a fan bingbing kind of presence.

Perhaps the only one who could do that would be sonam

  6. She looks like a dream. She did not bring the drama but I am pretty sure she managed to turn some heads in person. I have seen some red carpet pictures and she looked so beautiful. The poor girl gets a lot of heat just because she is Deepika and is pitted against a supposed global superstar

  7. The side boob is unsightly….and its way too princessy and virginal. Too safe, bland, predictable and boring. Its a white silk dress. Thats it.
The makeup is uneven and its a nothingness all in all.

  8. She’s looking radiant. I’m glad she didn’t wear something gimmicky even though that is what the met ball is about. I hope you weren’t stalking Deepika and Natasha 🙂

  9. These were the dresses that pissed me off when i was watching the red carpet. Deepika wasnt alone, there were quite a few others who wore either a ball gown or dresses similar to her.

    Epic, epic fail

  10. I am a little perplexed that you thought that PC’s dress was not underwhelming while this is. Heck, even Anna Wintour wore a Chanel gown and most guests had formal evening wear on including the likes of Gisele Bundchen and Blake Likely. So yes, I am not sure PC was more theme appropriate as you have stated. I honestly think both DP and PC were a little underwhelming for the MET.

Coming back to the look itself, the gown is lacking drama for the MET but overall; she looks smashing because well; she is stunning.

  12. these slip gowns look good on stick thin, pale skinned women like Nicole Kidman or Tilda Swinton. DP should dress more like Amanda Siegfried or Kate Winslet.

  13. this is a disaster. she is a stunning woman and looks good in literally anything, but THIS is what she wears to the Met Gala? A nightie? i don’t care if it’s a Hilfiger, it looks atrocious. Her body language lacks confidence and that’s making the dress worse. Horrible makeup and hair too. This is a total fail.

  14. There is a hierarchy at the gala.
    Top designers dress top stars.
I doubt she had much choice as far as gown was concerned.
She took was was given to her.

  15. She could’ve done so much better. Maybe save this look for some other occasion. She is such a gorgeous woman and this was an opportunity missed.

  16. Not liking it at all. The gown is quite boring and the make up is way tooo heavy handed. On top of it – this is not a look worthy of Met gala, theme appropriate or not! Very underwhelming.

  17. So So dissappointed ! it looks like a wedding gown minus the frills..I wonder why she didnt give any glam appearance lately

  18. People seem to forget she will wear what is given to her by the designer she is accompanying.
    She has NO SAY

    She looks great Neck Up
That face is to die for

  19. my 7 month old niece has this expression when we dress her like a princess. wide eyed and cutesy. dont think the expression or body language or the hair band suits a woman in her mid 30’s at a avante garde event like this one.

  20. She is certainly wearing a slip to an event with a princess hairband.. It could not get more ridiculous. Perhaps she confused the invite to a tweens sleepover party.

  21. She’s a beautiful girl and this was another chance for the fashion world to notice her unfortunately she missed again! This dress is not flattering at all nor does it go with the theme of the gala. It’s like a nightie. Why does her fancy ny stylist not pay more attention to her? Her makeup was also average and face too shiny. She has everything going for her yet she misses- I hope she isn’t turning into another Aishwarya Rai whose red carpet looks are always a miss. It’s a shame really to have these platforms to present yourself& then you miss the boat.

  22. Although I like DP much better than Sonam for her (DP) acting and her character , of late she has really made me miss Sonam during each of her international appearances.. Seriously , can you guys imagine how impactful and fashion-forward looks Sonam would sport if she ever attended the Met?! DP is just playing it safe and not experimenting as much as she used to do sometime back..
