High Heel Confidential

In Monisha Jaising

The Monisha Jaising run continues with Deepika choosing to wear a gold paillette dress to a recent event, version of which we saw during the Couture Week.

As gorgeous as Ms. Padukone is, this dress was a bit much for an event that still had the sun out. The dress looked just too harsh in the natural light and those flat glads just didn’t work with the dress. At all. Neck-up though, the woman is flawless.

Update: Her sandals are Blowfish. Thanks ‘Richa’ for the link.

I think the dress is gorgeous, but as said above definitely not meant for a day event! and i see her preference for flats over heels in all her off-late appearances, but those flats kill the loook ..btw she looks tired too, but i’m liking her more in her new cut!

    okay.
    so this looks great.
the dress looks awesome on her( yes i’m loving sequiins right now) plus the make up is gorgeous and the hair so effortless.
thoug i do agree about the wrong time of the day, she actually manges to make the flats work pretty well.

And i like that her look somehow seems less calculated than sonam’s always.

    • Madhu says:

Can’t agree with you more on every count. Deepika’s look does seem less calculated than Sonam’s. And I am all for the effortless au’ natural look, including the blah ones. Contrived fashion is oh so boring. Give me the misses anyday.

  3. vin says:

she looks fab….short hair really suiting her …

  4. DressyDresser says:

The black one is wayyyy better. Inspite of so much bling, she manages to look MEH as always! WHY?! There’s something about her which makes everything whe wears plain boring. I hate the glads. I’ve seen better pairs in flea markets.

    • neetu singh says:

shes looking good in the 2nd pic..haircut is suiting her..but y y y is she wearing sequins in the day and with those shoes..aggghh…probably shes soo tall tht she ll tower over all those men if she wears a few inches of pumps…

  5. a123 says:

Agree with the dress and how Gaw Deeps looks!

  6. Moji says:

love d dress nd just LOVE LOVE LOVE those glads..me so want them….but hav to agree d dress is bit much for d event..

  7. Anu says:

She would have totally rocked this dress if it was a night event and she wore some sky high black peep-toes.

  8. Pri says:

fabulous makeup, love the sandals.. but tht dress is soo out of place. come on deepika.. you know better!

  9. cooks says:

she looks great, but the dress was too harsh for a day event.

  10. preethi says:

i think she looks fab. the entire look is great!

  11. hhc-addict says:

I think she looks just stunning – ethereal until you see her feet. The glads dont match her look – but I guess she was trying to keep it a little casual considering it was a day event. But she looks good nevertheless.

  12. Megha says:

i think she looks absolutely lovely
i give her 10/10 for this look
sure glitter doesn’t work for days but she has toned it down with the gladiators and the simple makeup
so on some level it works
if she had worn a simple sheath wouldn’t we be saying ‘oh so boring, why cant they change it up a bit’
so what is fashion if not about pushing the norm a little?

  13. NFashionB says:

I just love the dres…..Sequins are so so in…But isnt it good for the night -event So was the event running day till night.

  14. jujunye says:

ewww why those shoes…. though the dress is nice n the ldy may be looking good… its in wrong place at wrong time !

  15. Richa says:

The dress is oh so nice ! :) love it… but of course, as has been discussed, a big NO NO for a day event ! would have looked awesome with heels and at night !

but nevertheless.. i love gladiators.. n a own a pair too! :) they r from “blowfish”… awesome casual pair.

  16. mary says:

I totally agree with P& Ps comments.

  17. KT says:

the flats are too casual and ‘tacky’ looking for such a ‘rich’ dress!

  18. MojitoLover says:

Deepika looks gorgeous…she’s looking her best nowadays I think. As much as I like long hair, the shorter length reallly suits her. And good make up too. Nice improvement. Lovely dress. It would have really shone (literally and otherwise) at a night event. And this dress calls for better shoes – maybe classic black pumps or even some strappy heels. I understand her predilection for flats, but kitten heels are always a good alternative to > 3.5″ heels.

  19. blueice says:

    The shoes are from Aldo

  20. suri says:

Maybe she needs to wear more lipstick she looks alittle washed out. I do like this dress in the black colour and a heel would have looked so much better.

  21. Sharin says:

The dress is really nice..it is too much of a “night time” dress like was mentioned… still, I think she looks good and it is a bit of a “I’m fabulous and don’t care what you think” look which is always hot. She needs to put a lil gloss on them lips.

  22. dee says:

Dress? cute. Daytime? no. Footwear? heelll nawww!! :)

  23. AA says:

Deepika forgot to wear her black shalwar and black dupatta :)

  24. Antonia says:

& again she wears flats paired with an evening dress =[

  25. diptiN says:

I love the dress…… the shoes not so much. make up and hair are perfect. She looks great.

  26. Geethanjali says:

At a quick glance….she reminds me of Bipasha in the first pic (top row)

  27. sania chaudhri says:

sooo wrong, that dress and those sandals DO NOT work together! Its way too contrived! Shes a pretty girl but no points in the sartorial department for her!!
