In Louis Vuitton Diwali Collection
Come November, Vuitton will be celebrating Diwali by collaborating with Rajeev Sethi to create special window installations that will include hand-painted trunks and limited edition dresses made from vintage saris.
Wearing one already was Christy Turlington at the 25th Biennale des Antiquaires Gala Dinner. As much as I love the idea of using vintage saris, the dress is just not jumping out at me. I guess, the traditionalist in me prefers vintage saris as is. 😛
Looking forward to the installations though. Thanks sony for the Christy tip-off.

Wow that’s kind of exciting that Louis Vuitton is doing a Diwali themed dresses – that being said, this dress is pretty awful. It looks pretty nice belt up but then when you look below the belt, I mean really. Christy Turlington manages to look okay but that’s because she’s a tall gorgeous supermodel – on anyone else this dress would look positively atrocious!
I can proudly say I have the same saree inherited from my mum.’s wedding collection
Btw, what exactly is a vintage saree ?
Anyway, i think that would have been gorgeous left as a saree than a dress. Why destroy a pretty saree to that ??!
Don’t like the dress.. it works in the campaign but not in real life. But how stunning does Christy look?! This woman has not aged one bit!!
I cannot imagine ruining a vintage saree like that
Interesting
What a waste of a good saree- not my colours personally, but still…
An aunt ruined my grandmother’s wedding saree (a gorgeous cream and silver Benarasi) from almost 80 years ago. I still have the outfit she got made from it just for sentiment’s sake 🙁 Yes, i grabbed it from her saying it was MY heirloom rightfully!
that sari should have been left as a sari. christy does look pretty though.
