Celeb Spotting At Kolkata Fashion Week

It started with Giselli walking for Ritu Kumar and ended with Amrita Rao for Manish Malhotra but the most attention grabbing showstopper of KFW had to be Mandira Bedi who walked for Satya Paul. Shock value was what Puneet Nanda (designer of Satya Paul) was goin for and shock they indeed do. Too bad the sari which was quite beautiful, didn’t get any attention. 😛

  1. Is Amrita Rao Manish Malhotra’s new muse? he’s been dressing her quite a lot recently…
Anway who is Giselle Monteiro? I thought the girl in the photo is Giselli Monteiro? Somebody correct me if i’m wrong please.

  2. Funny how Giselli (although she’s not Indian) looks to me like she represents a classy Indian woman more than any of these other ladies. She wears her clothes well without trying too hard to be sexy. Mandira just needs to accept herself already. Amrita, pull up your skirt.

  3. These kind of Fashion Weeks are an insult to the concept, purpose and tradition of Fashion Weeks and only three of the show-stoppers here are decent Neil, Giselli and Minishha. However, why these guys are show-stoppers in the first place, I don’t know..

This apart the fashion here is blasphemy in the name of Fashion. Go home and get a job guys.. and an education if you want to stick around and be taken seriously.

    • I agree!
Do the clothes have so little appeal, that even a d- lister hamming it up on stage for a few $$$ and a bikini top, can shore up their value a notch?
As it is, most of the shows at these weeks are just excuses for some panting men waiting for a malfunction to occur, to get their kicks, that’s all…
This set of pictures is everything that’s wrong with Indian fashion and design…

      • Exactly!! couldn’t have put it in better words myself!!

though the actual craft they are trying to represent(the handlooms and the weaves )are amazing, but the way they are executed into clothes and shown here are very very bad!!!
        Embarrassing!!

  4. i actually like mandira the most …although the saree that she is wearing is not great..her frame and the way she seems to carry it off makes her look hot!

  5. shock value or not, the blouse should have fit better. This just makes it look like her boobs are hanging.

All I dont know what it is, i think the boyish haircut, the broad shoulders and the way she holds the pallu in the left hand (especially in the first pic), the chunky shoes, all together make her look trashy.

  6. i agree Giselli looks elegant and adorable in that lehenga. Classy and sexy can go together people, just pull up your skirts, boobs, pallus, whatever’s falling down. Take a cue from Giselli and Rimi Sen.

  7. what’s with movie actors (i refuse to say stars) walking the ramp? what happened to the good ol’ supermodel days? they divert the attention from the clothes (not that it is not good thing sometimes) AND totally defeat the purpose of a fashion show. if the clothes are good, they’ll speak for themselves. designers don’t need ridiculous movie actors walking (or trying to walk) the ramp for them!

  8. i believe mandira’s blouse could be tucked up better at neck to let the blouse actually solve it’s purpose 😛
more than shocking, it actually looks i’ll-fitted.as if it was made for a more busty/tall woman.

  10. Those Satya Paul saris are gorgeous – I checked on the website and they’re not available yet. By the way has anyone tried ordering from them before? Is it ‘safe’?

  12. Love Giselli and Mini-lovely outfits, they look elegant. Minisha and Sameera also look OK. All other folks/outfits look horrendous/tacky/cheap. As for Mandira-what was Puneet Nanda thinking? Her boobs are hanging in such an awful manner!!! 🙁
