Made In India

Though we were delayed in posting about this, better now than… 🙂

This shoot styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania for Vogue showcasing the latest and greatest from Indian designers is an instant favorite; it couldn’t have been easy working with so many models and designers/varied designs and yet she’s done an impeccable job! Like the vibrancy of it.

  1. I think this post is a GREAT!! And I’ve been thinking for a while that you guys should expand to other relevant topics also; like this editorial.

It would be fantastic to see more posts like this, as it makes for a change and expands your horizon and range as a blog which is always a positive thing.

It’s really refreshing to see this post.

  2. There is a LOT of potential in there, it holds plenty of promise. I do love the concept . But it lacks that x-factor that could have taken a spread like this beyond the realms of fashion into those of art.

The two up top are especially unimpressive. The ones below them do work, if only because of the interesting juxtaposition of elements: the gritty urban backdrop which is mirrored in the make up and the feminine clothing styled with liberal doses of punk-chic attitude.

The clothes however are pretty uninspired, especially when taken as induviudal pieces.

    • I dont think so. Very few Indian designers make quality accessories, so most magazines use western labels for shoes/ bags etc.
Also, I spot a pair of louis vittons (the red pumps with the black ankle tie-ups) and a pair of booties that I’ve definetely seen on net-a-porter.com

    • And why would that be? Whats wannabe about these clothes? Why is it when indian designers experiment with their cloths its wannabe? They are designers, they have an urge for experimentation.
I think its high time we start giving their creativity the due respect. As i read this site and others i feel exteremly proud of the fact that these designers create original and wonderful stuff some of which can be easily held in leauge of other great designer worldwide.

  3. Its sad that when i pick one dress and look at it, it has no “indian” element in it.
I would think that i would be able to spot a indian designer on a global scale by just looking at the clothes. But no… i dont see why we need to stress that these are by “indian” designers.

  5. its a pleasant change from the girls at Vogue putting some actor or actress on the cover of Vogue. This one is very very fashion. Only point being that I have seen some of the clothes and they fall very short as far as the finish is concerned, but do photograph extremely well. Good job Anahita.

  7. I don’t understand why everyone is always so over critical here. How about a little more appreciation instead of always pointing out the negative! Think about the effort people put for designing clothes or styling shoots. Has anybody thought of how difficult it must be have been to coordinate all those models and clothes?? Has anybody thought of the fact that this was shot on New York and how would they get so many Indian models? How about appreciating the fact that Vogue is putting the younger designers in the same platform as the senior ones??
