These ladies kept it traditional at a recent wedding and looked absolutely gorgeous. We cannot gush enough!

P.S: Asin paired her sari with jewelry from Amrapali.

    • + 1! love it that she wore a cotton saree to an occasion where everyone was bound to dress up in their gaudiest! sure way to steal the show 😉 helps, of course, that she’s looking as fit and gorgeous as she does.

  1. How lovely does Asin look? Perfect!
Maria’s Sari is something i’d never buy for myself but she is looking great in it…May be i should also try it

  2. Asin looks absolutely gorgeous. I love the slightly modern blouse with the traditional sari, and the makeup and jewelry are perfect. Maria’s sari is a little too loud for my taste, but it’s great to see two women embracing handwoven sarees and mogra.

More than anything, I’m glad some celebrities know what attire is appropriate to wear at a wedding.

  3. love both the looks, but absolutely LOVE Maria’s saree and the way she accessorized..the Bindi on her looks amazing too! I agree that it is great to see some traditional looks at the wedding

    • yup yup she is! love that paithani saree on her….its so colourful and gorgeous…also heart asin’s look!! One was wearing a keralite saree and the other a maharashtrian one!!! LOVE LOOOOOVVVEEE both the sarees!!! <3 <3

    • Definately a paithani. I think it is lovely for Maria to pay stylistic homage to what was essentially a maharashtrian wedding. She looks great, as does Asin.

    • It is not a Paithani. Although the border is a Paithani border, the pallu is not. Paithani pallus are different. This saree has a very simple pallu. It might be a semi-paithani.

  4. Asin is looking absolutely breathtaking. She is giving a grand lesson on how a proper saree should be draped. Stunning!
It’s lovely to see Maria in a saree too. Absolutely loved the look. So festive & joyful.
    Well done ladies!!

  5. Asin looks beautiful in her traditional Kerela style saree…Her necklace is also traditional mallu style… It’s called teh Poo-Thali … I have been lusting over this antique piece which my aunt has and willing to pay anything to get that…..
I am glad to see some celebrities choosig elegance over the OTT tacky zardozi & embroidered chiffon georegetts …

    • It looks like Poothali, but its not. Poothali is slightly more wider design. this is very narrow. But I do agree that it has a poothali look.
Asin made all Keralites proud with her simple but elegant ensembl..

  6. Though gaudy Im liking the rich colors in Maria’s sari. Love the mallu sari too. Looks like Asin has been putting some effort in to all her appearances!

  8. They both look fabulous, but I love love love Maria’s look. That’s a paithani sari typical to a maharashtrian wedding. Love the colors.

  9. Asin is wearing set saree from Kerala with traditional Kerala mullamottu mala (necklace).

Maria is wearing Maharashtra’s traditional Paithani saree.

Good to see women in bollywood going for traditional sarees. Sick of seeing MM’s same ole’ blings.

  10. How awesome do both these ladies look! A sight for sore eyes, definitely.
Thank God for no tube top blouses or one boob shows. Just an elegant, classy & yes sexy way of wearing a saree.
Not all is lost, I see that there is still some hope left for Bollywood.

  11. Stunning– asin looks simplicity itself, i’m loving this keralan look on her, the neckpiece is gorgeous too. While maria always impresses in her choice of handloom sarees, you’d never catch her in some sequinned synthetic number which seems to be the fashion these days.

  12. The sari is definitely the traditional Mallu style… but the hair and the side bun feels like it was inspired by sonam’s gal mitthi mitthi look!

i don’t really mind … she looks fantastic anyways!

  14. Perfect example of how to keep it simple and elegant (Asin) and how to use colour and look elegant (Maria). Andhow to look both modern and traditional.

Props to both ladies and props to HHC for the pairing in a single post! I like.

  15. How awesome do the two look!
Love Asin’s shining simplicity – so elegant and stunning. Btw Asin was styled by Nitasha, who also styled her for the sangeet. She’s really transformed Asin into a head-turner!
Maria is my favourite athe wedding – for the gorgeously coloured sari, soft wavy hair-do with flowers and flowers – so pretty!

      • I disagree! Asin win fr tht fact tht everything is perfect on her. No shabby-ness. Lovely simple classy stunning look by Asin! Maria is too gaudy n careless drape n not likin the hair n the big green bindi wch looks lik a traffic light :/

  16. The ladies in gaudy and not so wedding sarees myt be looking at these women and thought inside their heads that D’uh how elegant it could have been if we also went the traditional way…….I hated mallu sarees but after seeing asin I am going to buy 1 for myself….can’t take my eyes off her

  17. Am I the only one who thinks Maria looks shabbily dressed?
wish she had put in a little more effort. her lack of neatness is largely obvious next to Asin’s perfect ensemble.

  18. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE Maria Gorreti’s look. Asin looks good. But Maria’s look is no where comparable to hers, she looks so gorgeous and awesome and beauutiful!Maybe not loving the clutch as much, but we’re overlooking that, arent we? Out of words. Love this look overall.

  24. Asin was styled by stylist Nitasha Gaurav so all credit should go to Nitasha. By herself Asin’s dress sense is a bit of a disaster. Look out for Nitasha’s work, she’s terrific.

    • I disagree. Asin gets reasonable credit too. She carries off the look with such class and panache, that makes both her and whats she wearing stand out.

      Reply
    • Asin’s makeup artist has quoted in an interview that the actress picked the saree from her mother’s closet. So apart from the Amrapali jewels and hair, which may have been Nitasha’s suggestions, credit to should go to the actress herself, at least for this occasion.

    • i dont think nitasha dug up he moms sari, so u can stop right there. I feel Asin hs strted taking personal interest in her outfits recently nad THAT shows. This veryyy same Nitasha has styled her b4 n its been featured here but they wr all thumbs down. so trust me its not her!

  25. Asin looks lovely and that indeed looks like a poo-thali necklace. I just wish she had worn the mundu instead of the sari and while she might hve had a stylist, this is how most Mallu women dress at weddings!
