In Paromita Banerjee

Keeping it easy in a Paromita Banerjee dress, Ashwiny attended a screening of her movie. Bindi in place, the filmmaker finished out the look with silver-toned accessories. Like what you see?

  1. That’s a terribly designed and awfully made dress. Can’t imagine a designer made it and put it out there
It’d be easier to get things more flattering at Target.
And those shoes are a travesty

  2. I can tell this woman dresses for herself, chooses comfort over fashion & stands out for her confident personality !!
Major love just for that !!

    • Totally agree. This woman has chosen to be behind the camera and not in front! She should not be pressured to dress like a fashionista. Better to let her be and focus critiques elsewhere.

      • Agree DarjiFashion, this lady is here for herself and is not competing with anyone in fashion. Dressing for herself just like desimom said. She should allowed to be herself, since that is refreshing!

        • Very True Bluebells. Also, she can only put out a good product, film in her case, if she is herself. If she starts dressing for others, then she looses genuineness and her product will suffer. She is about film and not fashion. Critiquing her films is fair game. Her fashion sense, No.

    • Er maybe you need to broaden your definition of “fashion”. You may or may not like but fashion is not just the labels and style tips and starlets that glossy mags like to carry. Which for any of us btw is quite ugly.

      • Not to negate your comment but I don’t think Ali meant that she doesn’t deserve to be featured on a fashion blog. She thinks that Ashwiny might be insulted with derisive words for looking and dressing ordinarily. Which is unethical.

        • OK. “why is this look even featured on a fashion blog” seems to suggest it is not fit for the blog though. As for insults I trust PnP filter the nasties. This X must not be on the blog is a bugbear of mine. Hate a look – perfectly fine. But don’t try and limit posts to what you think is fashion.

This look is not my cup of tea. But it is neat and unobtrusive as most directors dress and a refreshing change from a parade of models and actors. And it fares better elsewhere which makes me think PnP really *need to up their pic game* because this is not the first time I found a look better on some other site.

      • To me fashion is a well put-together look and this does not qualify. Nothing to do with expensive brands or fancy labels. The reason this is featured here is because it is ‘Paromita Banerjee’ and not ‘Khadi Gramodyog’. Hence my comment.

  3. I don’t think it is a dress, the ties at the side look like an angarkha. Also that peek of blue under the dress is it a separate? It is a casual upper middle class professional look. She is a filmmaker and better turned out than most directors in the business (mostly male).

  4. She has such an earthy Indian face! I love it how she wears a bindi everytime. Suits her face a lot. She has such beautiful big round eyes. <3

  5. Let’s face it, very few of our celebs can do “earthy” and still look glam. This lady is not one of them though. Nandita Das comes to mind, so does Konkona Sen Sharma.

  6. This does not look like something you wear outside your house. Looks like the designer took an old saree and her husband’s old pjs and stitched them together to make this outfit. The able length is also very unflattering for this lady’s height, makes her look stocky. The color does nothing for her. I don’t know, why not go for a saree and look classy and traditional instead of this? Or a wraparound anarkali floor length dress?
