In Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

For the reception, Arpita went white wearing a crystal encrusted lehenga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. I love the contrast of the traditional wedding bangles against the white.

Again, congratulations to the newlyweds.

  1. Sadly this looks very bad. White isn’t Arpita’s color. The bust fitting looks strange and for the first time I see her in terrible makeup. Maybe it looked better in person.

Will take the groom’s purple velvet over the white lehenga any day.

  2. Pretty, although am surprised at the outfit color (white for a bride?? – assuming that there is a traditional influence here, since she is wearing the chooda). I wish she’d gone for a more polished hair-do – this looks kind of bedraggled.

      • @ Melange..Thalabrala Cheera. Man, I learned about two different wedding traditions in culturally diverse India just thanks to one wedding. Kickass.

And this lady from what I read was raised in a very diverse home, among Hindus, Muslims and Christians. Maybe she tried to inculcate everything. (In a manner that’s too loud for me, but it’s not my wedding..Hell ..if I was rich and didn’t have to think about how a 10K diamond ring is a waste and can instead be a substantial down payment on a house..I would have a fairy tale in a castle in glass slippers and all). Who knows. Even P&P didn’t have the insider connections on this one. :p. This wasn’t directed towards you Melange, just a result of reading all the wedding posts that started my day wrong because of too much misplaced hate. Deep breaths.

      • Yes, South Indian brides wear white – love the cream saris Andhraite brides wear. But she is wearing a traditional Punjabi chooda, and Punjabi brides traditionally wouldn’t wear white/cream – hence the surprise.

  3. The bust fitting is really off, & her hair & makeup are not flattering. I’m suprised you guys haven’t critiqued her hair (you always pick at ppls hair styles:P)

Although it is great to see her going with the unconventional color route for a new bride (white!)

  4. Gosh this looks very gaudy and unflattering ;( I loved color on her, but this white color and the style of the lehenga makes her look bulky. Not impressed with the jewellery either.

Sometimes I wish folks would actually care for the actual dress and style and forget the brand. It all boils down to how well you wera it and whether it is something that suits you. In this case the Abu Jaani creation itself is very in your face flashy and nothing to write home about except how much it would have cost…

I did like her other outfits though, but this one is a complete downer.

I love the grooms simple but absolutely regal outfit. Perfect color choice and style which he wears extremely well.

    • “It all boils down to how well you wear it and whether it is something that suits you” – Well said. Everything is so wrong about this look. This is a grand “royal” themed wedding and they would have had rehearsals so I don’t see how she or the stylist would have not known how bad it looks.

  5. She looks super uncomfortable in this outfit with it sheer odhni and the lehenga jacked up that high. The best outfit was the Sabya lehenga. They way the odhni was draped in that suited her to a T as did the colours

  6. Darn! I’ve enjoyed her outfits so far. This ‘all’ white ensemble isn’t flattering on Arpita. I wish she had opted for a longer choli, which could have made a difference. It seems to have a lot of sparkle and probably looks better in reality. Not sure about the hair either.

  7. looks like Sri Devi costume from 80s. Like the groom outfit but together they are not complementing each other . Blouse fitting is so pathetic, it should have been little long.

    • Yes agree….she looks dressed up for ‘main nagin tu sapera ‘ song from nagina. And why is she wearing the lehenga so high up, if its to hide her tummy she could’ve just gone for a longer choli. Though must add she’s looked lovely in all her other ensembles .

  8. Disagree with people saying that white isn’t her colour. It really looks good on her. Makes her stand out more rather than wash her out. I do feel like it’s giving me nightie vibes.

  9. Its difficult to critique a bride when its the happiest moments of her life. Nevertheless, not being too harsh..the choice of color is tad disappointing and does not work for her. I am a bit ” graciously endowed”…if you know what I mean 😉 and the white color never works for me…it just makes my chest look bigger 🙁 …therefore unless its a ‘death to do’ situation ..I avoid wearing stark white. I will pass the rest of the comments and just wish all the best to the married couple.

  10. I wish them both the best. But good lord – Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla could have done so much better for her. Also the makeup artist should be fired.

  11. Bad choice for your own reception.. the outfit looks very dated (80’s feel to it)… i’ll blame the designers here.. off late AJSK have become king of gaudiness… plus the hair n makeup makes matter worse

  13. The white lehenga is horrendous and the fitting pathetic…don’t you have something like a dress trial. With a fashionista sis in law like Malaika Arora Khan it is sad to see Arpita in such an outfit. The make up is tottaly unflattering..Arpita is a beautiful girl and should have chosen bright bridal colors. you can never go wrong in them! Here’s wishing the couple all the best!
