The Festival Circuit
It’s been a busy time for director Aparna Sen who first attended the IView Film Festival in New York in September and then the Chicago South Asian Film Festival in Oct. She paired her red (bomkai?) sari with silver jewellery the first time around and then a gold choker at the Chicago appearance. Love the sari. The jewellery, not so much.
Accompanying her at New York was daughter Konkona, who picked an orange one with a pink border and pallu. Of the four ladies, we know which one we loved the least. It was Raajeshwari’s. Would’ve loved Deepti if she added some drop earrings with hers.

Konkana looks lovely!
i liked rajweeshwari’s saree the least but then i am a sucker for traditional sarees :). All the ladies look lovely.
Agree! Rajeswari’s sari is the least pretty. Aparna and konkana looks awesome and dipti’s look is good too but the sari is not draped that well.
I think Rajeshwari looks lovely, coincidentally I met her at a party in LA a couple of days ago , she was glowing and absolutely beautiful!
Konkona looks great – such a natural.
– All look great.
– My fav is Konkana. She makes an average saree look awesome ! She is not the typical hindi movie actress but she is sooooo pretty ! Her mom looks great too !
– Deepthi’s saree would have looked nicer if she draped it nicer and wore some earrings. It looks..hate to use this way of description…”widow-ish”.
– Raageswari’s saree i dislike..
Agree with KS, prefer all the rest to Rajeshwari’s. I don’t know about the drop earrings, I think Deepti looks lovely and simple and the best -forgot how understatedly elegant she has always been.
I think Aparna Sen’s is a kanjeevaram. They all look good, dignified and classy. Raageshwari’s saree looks odd but she looks nice.
Yay to handloom sarees!!
I agree. Aparna Sen is wearing a traditional kanjeevaram, not a bomkai.
Konkana!
for some one newly married, i think konkona looked a little dressed down but i am loving all of them. the look here is signature aparna sen look .
btw i think u made a mistake, its Rajeshwari Sachdev
You’re right. It is Rajeshwari.
what looooooooooooovely silk saris. thank you, PnP, this is my favourite post of the day.
Konkona looks oh-so-darn-pretty 🙂 ……non blingy and feminine…
Just goes to show how stunning “plain” sarees can look!
I like Konkana’s because of the lovely pink–sometimes these sarees can look matronly, but she gets it right.
Raageshwari Sachdev obviously didn’t get the memo about the arty look everyone was going for.
The ladies look lovely. Is it not a simple Kanjeevaram saree on Aparna Sen.
Its so nice to see Deepti Naval here….she’s always had an impeccable personal style!
I think either a statement necklace or at least some earrings would have looked lovely, but I agree that her saree is the best of the lot, love aparna’s too but the black/red combo is a bit more common
ALl the ladies look lovely! such a nice change from the blingy bollywood types!
You serious? Raageshwari? Thought that to be quite tacky and Konkana fared so much better than all of them! But that’s just me. 🙂
Delightful of you to feature such beautiful traditional silks and women of substance… Konkona shines in this simple avatar.
Lovely to see these ladies wearing traditional non-chakmak sarees. Konkana carries the day…simple yet so elegant.
Both Aparna & Konkona are wearing Kajeevarams (or versions of kanjees) – definitely not a bomkai 🙂
Agreed, it’s def Kanjeevaram. 🙂
Aparna’s Saree is a traditional South Silk (heavy variety) very popular in Bengal (not Bomkai)…
both the mother daughter duo looks lovely.
between why Aprna changed the neck piece in the same event with a same saree? she looks great in both though
girls girls girls! you cannot run a fashion blog and go about mistaking a kanjeevaram for a bomkai. that is utter travesty i say! fashion must understand textile just as much as brands.or maybe more!
looks like Payal was not sure if the sari is Bomkai , no wonder she has put a question mark in her post
Mother-Daughter look so good. Lovely!
