In Payal Khandwala
Going the minimalist route, Anupama picked Payal Khandwala for the event last night; she looked lovely! Must however add… While this would’ve been a great look elsewhere, for the event in question and given how everyone else was dressed to the nines, the look felt a wee bit too basic. Now, that doesn’t mean we were hoping for a sheath or bling, just something sharper/dressed-up. All that said, love the kurta!

This is a better outfit for a movie screening. I wish she put in a tad bit more effort for this occasion.
Agree P&P! Too stark and basic, although I do like the pants. The kurta seems very mannish. All she needs is a khaki jhola and then she’d actually look like a journalist.
But she is.
Love it! Looks so minimalist and chic…
Dunno what to like about this Kurta so much? It’s way too simple and the fit is way too off and I don’t like the neckline either..it looks as if she is wearing a sack…I do like the pants and her earrings.
I adore this look. This is so chic in it’s simplicity.
White kurta (ignore square shoulder cut a bit)
Purple pants
Brown shoes
Black clutch
A tad too chopped up for me. This look was lost on me at the square manly shoulder cut of the kurta itself.
A book launch @ daytime – this would have been fine. not an evening look for sure!
I actually liked this – it was a book launch after all and unless the invite itself specified a dress code, I think what she wore was totally appropriate.
I think this look is fab for a book launch on a hot Mumbai summer day. I don’t understand why Indians, especially urban North Indians, are always seen in dressy attire even during daytime. It’s sometimes ok to wear a comfy outfit that does not hug your curves.
anupama chopra, dont be anupama chopra. be karisma kapoor. everyone should just dress like that. what is this nonsense of projecting your concept of life/politics by how dressed down you are. not inviting you to my kitty party. hmph.
LOL!
You win the internet with that comment. Bravo! 🙂
Thanks KT. You unlike anupama can come. Please remember to ‘keep it classy’ with your outfit (spend at least six hours thinking about it, this stuff is for realzz) though and bring a dish. 😀
😀 But hey “Adara aunty…”, you are welcome to disagree with us (and the comments) as much as you’d like… However, you’ve got to stop trolling other commenters to avoid moderation. Let’s play nice! Thanks.
But but I am just a human lady called Adara over the age of 30. I only say aunts since I notice some commentators referring to women that age as aunts. I don’t get it. This is confusing Priyanka! Different strokes for different folks? Glad you let me have my say. Thank you! 🙂
Stephen Colbert of HHC you are! <3!
I wish the Kurtz had a ill bit of a fit to it .. However I loved it !! I would wear that to a book launch – as long as it wasn’t my book launch.
I think everyone else dressed over the top. This was a book launch, Anupama is the only one who is event appropriate here. Her outfit isn’t my cup of tea but she makes it work and looks very well put together.
OKK…so now anupama is in basic white kurta mode 😛
Doen’t matter what everyone else was wearing. She’s appropriately dressed for a book launch, and she’s dressed well at that! I’m so glad she has a mind of her own and doesn’t ape what the rest of the world is doing/wearing!
I think this is VERY appropriate given the event in question. She looks lovely!
LIKE! Its the likes of Madhuri dixit who were inappropriately dressed – or perhaps in the anything goes culture of Mumbai, its all good. I like the unusual, relaxed silhouette and a white shirt any time.
