Anoushka Shankar On Cosmopolitan India: (Un)Covered

Comment image 23

Anoushka features on the July cover of Cosmopolitan India in a pink Cue by Rahul Khanna and Rohit Gandhi dress that we just recently saw on Chitrangda on the runway. In addition to the Cue dress, she also wears what seemed quite like a Gauri and Nainika pink dress with the quirky Spring 2009 Christian Dior heels.

Catch Ms. Shankar’s interview here.

  1. Those Christian Dior shoes are UGLY! The heel, the straps, they all look so cheap I can’t believe Dior would design/sell those!

Also, the picture of Anoushka Shankar wearing those shoes looks like something out of a walmart/jc penney catalogue, NOT something you would expect to see in a magazine, although Cosmopolitan is hardly a fashion magazine, so I suppose they can be excused.

On the other hand, the picture of her in the long flowy dress, looking down at her shoes is a fun playful shot! However the baby pink background combined with the dress and shoes does make me feel like I just ate 20 vanilla cupcakes and then drank 10 caramel frappucinos.

  2. oh she looks so FAB… spreading the glamor all over..
she’s got that factor of style in her..
    I totally love her in pink…so feminine…

  3. She has a thanda thanda peekha peekha look about her—most unlike a Cosmo cover girl! She does look somewhat “come hither” in the Mirari ads she is doing….certainly better than on this cover!

  4. ohhhhhhhhh the fertility goddess shoes!
This magazine spread is sort of horrible o_O…I guess Vouge is better than something

  5. This kinda photoshoot is getting repetitive. Seen SJP and Sonam do this same thing with a flowy dress earlier.
Dont like the Dior Sandals. Its literally like having a person under your heel!

  6. O that’s a Christan Dior? I have a Mango dress that’s a lot like this Dior. Didn’t know Mango copies like this.

  7. I love Anushka she’s so honest and quirky, not the generic boring, fake, holier-than-thou Indian female celeb.
That said, I dont really like the photoshoot. Heart the Dior heels, hate the Gauri and Nainika (?) dress. I think the cue dress only looks good becoz of the way it’s been styled, looks lifeless on the runway and probably worse in real. Overall, boring unimaginative spread

  8. love the pink number below. But what did she do to her hair? I recently went to one of her recitals and it looked much better then. Don’t like this style much, makes her look older. I prefer her natural curls!

  9. While Ms. Shankar manages to look fabulous despite the uninspiring and mediocre styling, its a shame that these pictures come across as totally lacking movement, vibe and a feel, thanks to the dumb sensibilities of the Cosmopolitan India team.

I like the pink dress but don’t get the pink background, why would they do pink + pink? lol, and the shoes are hilarious!

and @tara, that’s ridiculous, becasue I would hope that the youger people (like myself) would be open-minded to the “quirky” shoe :/

  14. Aww I thought the shoes were cute in aquirky way…and I dont understand why people must bash every fashion mag in India… I mean okay the
Vogue is not living up to it’s international standards, but all the US issues of the cosmopolitian that I’ve read have photoshoots that are only very marginally better than this one.
Besidesfashion magazines in India have a much lower readership and cost way less as well so obv they have only a fraction of the resources that their international counterparts have to work with

  15. I love her, I am so glad there are some women in India, related to arts and nothing to do with the film /TV industry who are soooo drop dead gorgeous. The shoes – dont care if its designer are hideous.

  16. I would have expected something a lot more creative for an Anoushka Shankar shoot. She’s a musical genius and this shoot makes her look like a brainless barbie doll. How tacky. The shoes aren’t too bad…..

  17. Ughh tackiness!!! She is SOO hot!! I mean few people have her sex appeal and what do they do with it!?! Too much pink and for some reason it looks really CHEAP!!
I mean Cosmo! A lot more expected!!
