The Long And Short Of It

Comment image 19

It’s quite cold in Delhi which probably explains Kalyani wearing the the Dior jumpsuit complete with the fur coat. It might have looked great in an editorial but not quite liking the exact look off the runway.

The cold weather didn’t stop Anjali from going short in a Balmain dress paired with a gold clutch and the Louboutin lace bootie that has been on my wishlist (and will remain so). I love the look minus the clutch. It distracts from the edgy dress.

Whose look do you prefer?

  1. the balmain dress looks good on the model, On Anjali… not so much, the shoes kill the look and make her look very short. Kalyani has not been too well recently, I suggest she try wearing something more simple, her dressing has been too OTT

  2. the look completely overwhelms her. just the coat would have worked with a skinny jean. the volume on the jumpsuit combined with the exuberance of the coat is just too much.

  3. Anjali Chawla in a Balmain – ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Oh good lord stylists, please do take a good look at your clients before putting them in things that Emmanuele Alt and Anna Dello Russo would wear. Anjali is so far from edgy that it’s not even funny.

  4. I agree, Anjali chawla looks great here and the dress is drool worthy but I have no idea how can one wear these kinda dresses in 5 degrees. I went to delhi for a couple of days and now I am down with Viral. FML 🙁

  5. Just goes to show that an OTT look that rocks on the runway looks ridiculous IRL. Luve the fur jacket though. BOO on the fur, unless it is fake. Couture houses are using fake fur nowadays so it is possible.

The Balmain dress is begging for glittery gold pumps. Toughening up a intricate formal look with rocker chic black boots is just not working here.

  6. Hi P & P,
I have to say that I have been following this blog for more than over a year now and it does its best at giving me a daily dose of light hearted humor (thanks to folks participating in your wthey section),local fashionistas and of course your ramblings about everything fashion 🙂 it usually leads to me and my GF chatting away…oh did you check HHC today? xxx was wearing those bizarre pants at the fashion gala lol..I love the casual
conversational style of your blog that I am compelled to visit it often and now I am beginning to think that I really know you! ( have you ever snooped on people that (you don’t really know) on facebook, and then when you come across them on the street or the mall are compelled to scream at their face-
yeah i know you recently visited belgium , and that wasn’t a flattering skirt you wore there – lol )anyways, the point I’m responding to this post is in response to your thoughts about ” I love the look minus the clutch. It distracts from the edgy dress”
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion ( and at most times, I agree and love it)
I think that several times when you compare the look of the local indian celeb with the runway look, you’ve sort of formed this image about the runway look being golden and find it difficult to look past it, to see.. shall we say tweaks that the individual may have done to it. Don’t get me wrong, this Balmain look is rocking and works great on the model.( as do many other runway looks)
But I think, its not necessary to copy the entire runway look as-is. several of your posts have had the individuals subjected to slight remarks cause they did something that was a little different from the runway look. (P & P, i know its your personal opinion and i’m not criticizing it one bit but just vocalizing my thoughts ) now sometimes, the look looks so aesthetically beautiful on the runway model that it just doesn’t look as good on the off-the-runway individual (sure yes, for one, she’s not a model)
so i think changing things up a little may work for your benefit. long story short, its my personal opinion that we cant take the runway look as a verse in the bible and keeping your creative mind a little open, doesn’t hurt.
now for one second, close your eyes and image the runway model carrying a golden clutch…lol
cheers! love all the work that you gals put in and absolutely love love love the blog!
    cheers!
