Alia’s stylist needs to realize that Alia is young and looks younger than her age. She needs to be styled in a fun, flirty, cheerful way that celebrates her greatest asset, her youth. Once Alia turns 30 she can dress like this- and continue dressing like a 30 year old for the next 30 years, as is the trend these days.

true. she could do so much spunk but ends up wearing such gowns.
she can do minis, flared minis- polka dots – anything. guess the stylists are not thinking beyond a set template.

Uhm err she has donned a lot of dresses, minis, cropped separates and shorts (I remember seeing her in some polka too) for lot of her promotional events. In fact I like her outings because she tries several type of clothes without falling into a template. If you are just referring to award festivities, I guess her stylist sticks to gowns and I think most people do too.

This being an award function going formal makes total sense.
She actually always dresses her age, that weirdo look and her pose is stuck in my head.

I had the same feeling as the first commentator. VERY mature look for her age. The gown falls flat below her waist and those yellow panels look like an afterthought – Hilarious. Without those panels it would have been a shapeless black gown so they bring practically nothing to the gown.

Alia + black = Red carpet look. *yawns*
    Nice makeup though.

Haha… the panel on her left side looks like a blue and yellow bird sitting on her hip.

Yup.. Its an unimpressive gown to say the least. LOL @ the bird comment.. hahaha! Her top half looks like she has just come out of a bath. There is nothing wrong in wearing gowns for a red carpet look, but why black all the time, that too such hideous gowns.

Why do these stars or their stylists, for that matter, choose such hideous outfits when they have the best designers and gowns at their disposal. You can blindly pick out a Naeem Khan and it will turn out to be gorgeous.

Yeah I know isn’t it? That’s what I always think.

this look needed one more pop of color via jewelry – a bracelet, a ring … would have helped make it more youthful.

      a fun watch maybe!

The look begs for a better hair do! Why does she never over look her half up half down style!

Would’ve looked stunning with the addition of a pair of diamond drops

I don’t like the gown much. The yellow panels look very mismatched to the classic black gown. Not a fan at all. I wish she gravitated more towards youthful looks for her appearances

She looks good. But I have the same issue as before, need some accessories to take it up a notch. And those clavicles, niiiice! ;) Anyway, she never tries to be a wannabe -no white washing, no trying to fit into tight clothes which is not her size( of course she is slender so no need for it but still. :P), no cheap accessories, no trying to walk in high heels (or those ugly wedge chappals most try to sport)which she cannot handle-that is the best thing about her appearances. You go, girl!

The yellow pattern on the sides looks like a patch. What were the designers thinking?

She could have added either earrings or a necklace to elevate this look. The all black and no jewelry combo is making it a bit dull.
    She still looks fantastic though.
