(Un)Covered

Priyanka and I had bets going on over who would be the first to don the latest Sabyasachi Couture looks and while we were thinking real life looks, we didn’t even think to consider print.

On Bazaar Bride’s latest edition, Aishwarya dons a Sabyasachi lehenga shown just a few days ago at the Couture show. Considering there is normally a 3 month turnaround time between a photoshoot and a magazine release, makes us wonder now, when this photoshoot happened.

Back to the cover, love/like?

P.S. She was styled by the designer himself.

  1. First things first, why haven’t you used a clear pic of the cover. The cover and Aishwarya look ethereal. STUNNING is the word. 20 years in showbiz, 100s of covers yet every cover of Aishwarya offers something new. The aura of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is unbeatable. More power to her!!

  2. I don’t like the way her face is white washed. Love the red lips. I wish that she was standing because the outfit looks like a gown rather than a lehenga when she’s sitting down. I do like her expressions but am not blown away by the cover which I would expect to be considering it’s a collaboration between Sabyasachi and Aishwarya.

    • Sometimes we tend to forget that this is a cover. The idea is to sell a cover and a magazine. If the outfit is shown off, so be it. If not, that is the way things are.

The idea behind a magazine cover is not to ‘show-off an outfit’. The designer and the fashion show would do that.

      🙂

  3. I didn’t like his latest designs. But here Aishwarya is totally making it work.
She looks beautiful and I like the cover. Credit goes to Aishwarya.
Except I didn’t like that fur thing on her shoulder. I don’t like using fur.
If it is a faux fur then it’s fine.

    • To tell frankly, I didn’t look past that beautiful face.
Infact I want Kajol, Preity Zinta, Aishwarya Rai, Karishma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla,
Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bendre, Dia Mirza, Bipasha, Sushmita Sen
and Lara Dutta to come back and still be the leading ladies of Bollywood. I don’t
mind if they are 35 or 45 years, I can still accept them all as heroines of Bollywood.
Without them all there is a void in Bollywood movies. They were all beautiful, graceful
and mixture of acting and dancing talents. Without you all there is a void in Bollywood.

  4. So, did she see a ghost or is she the ghost ?!

Coming to clothes & styling…it’s very similar to her ‘Guzarish’ styling…altho’ that was mostly black. Looks very elegant!

    • +1… and notice how different, the size and shape of her face, body, skin tone has changed from one magazine to the other. No, I am not an Ash hater just irritated because this gorgeous woman needs no enhancing at all.

  6. She looks beautiful, but there’s nothing new about that..
Can’t help but feel she doesn’t add anything here..
Agree about the white-wash… aren’t these magazines insulting our actors by doing so?

  7. Ashwarya is a stunner. She was a model before she became an actor and a celebrity. Her ease in front of a camera comes through in the cover picture. Her face is unnecessarily whitewashed though.
Unfortunately most of Ash’s enchanting appearances are reserved for magazine covers and for Cannes. If only she’d up her game a bit ever so often.

  8. She looks good, nothing new about that. But, the cover is just meh.
The location does not gel with the clothing. And that shrug doesn’t add anything to an already heavy clothing.

  9. So happy that you did not comment on her. We all know how painful it is for you guys to say nice things about Ash. Now onwards please follow this strategy – just publish the picture and let the readers comment that way you will know that most of the people likes her. Wonder what makes you two so insecure to say nice things about her. And I am guessing you will not allow my post to appear.

    • Totally agreed !
I wonder what their beef is with Ash. Whenever she does a faux pas, they are all over her like white on rice but when she manages to hit it out of the park, a lukewarm compliment is given.
Anyways, they might have their biases but I don’t.
Ash is rocking this cover. Love everything about it but I so wish they hadn’t white washed her face. She is the last person who needs that to stand out.

  10. Aishwarya looks fantastic. I do have a problem with the ‘white wash face’ though. It’s Aiswharya on the cover and with that face any magazine will sell well, even if she had rags on.

  11. She looks like she has been drowned. I dont understand the “beauty” of having a dead person be on the cover of a fashion magazine… but then I dont understand “fashion” in general

She is naturally beautiful I dont understand the need for a tube of lipstick and all the other computer aided “corrections” on the photo. Such things are required for mere mortals like me, not her. There is nothing to appreciate about the dead bird clothing or the dead person aka Aishwarya’s face. Sorry!! 🙁

There are debates in India about “Self esteem” for the girl child and here we have Aishwarya Rai so white washed with tubes of lipstick and “corrections” to achieve “perfection”
so she can look like a dead person.

I bet its going to make the 700 million females in India walk “tall 😛 head held up high

  12. Honestly, most of the commentators above are so bias. This is a totally lack lustre cover and the white washing (borderline gost like face) makes things even worst. You could have put anyone else on the cover and it would look the same. Total fail.

  13. hot! Royalty! That outfit wouldn’t have worked on everyone else but on Aishwarya it does! She is bringing personality to the outfit. Not the other way round. And this time I don’t mind the so called “white washed” look either because I think it’s part of the whole look n feel of the cover. A different vibe.

    • Come on man. Have some heart. They will not upload her hello cover. One stunning pic of Ash followed by another? P&P will have a heart attack or may be they still trying to find fault in that cover.

  14. She looks lovely .. But if I look at Ashs old pics, looks like her complexion has changed from Dusky to white.. Not a fan of what the magazine or make up artist is trying to indirectly promote..

  15. Love her. Beauty Queen !! I am totally ok with the white wash. Because if you observe carefully the white washing is not done to lighten her complexion..it is part of the makeup design. It’s different from the regular editorial looks..very innovative idea and brilliant execution! Deserves a thumbs up!!

  16. I totally second with how you all ignored Ash’s Hello mag cover! Girls you only grow by admiring what is worth being admired. Piggy chops cover was released today, much before Ash’s!

PS: i am not an Aishwarya fan but I will give credit where it is due and acknowledge the amazing cover

    • Hey Paul/Palak! You are confusing this blog with a fan site. There are many covers with many stars we don’t get around to posting until much later or sometimes, posting at all. And no, we don’t have an agenda. We may or may not post the cover at our discretion. Thank-you for taking the time to follow-up though!

        • To give you some more points…
Also Ms. Kapoor’s overdressed hotel room/bedroom instagram pics are to be forcibly made to see by us. And her not so visible movie shooting pics, movie trailer bits etc are made like some interesting spottings here.

      • PnP I am sorry for all the negativity this generates for you!

Somehow everyone fails to see that your question on this post was: “Love or Like”? You cover most of Aishwarya’s appearance and do not stop gushing about her Cannes outings. And yet the fans (and I am the biggest ARB fan) tend to target you.

        I am sorry!

  17. Yes, her face and in fact everything is white washed, it seems like the cover is dark & woods themed- in lines with the Snow White and the Huntsman. She looks fantastic. The gown or whatever it is looks drab on the runway and fabulous on her.

    • Well said Adara! Agree with everything you said. That is what the theme of the cover is and they achieved what they wanted to show. Not only her face, everything including her outfit and background is whitewashed.
