Appointed United Nationa’s Goodwill Ambassador, Aishwarya attended events in New York this week as part of her Ambassador duties. She went traditional in Sabyasachi at two events, opting for a Gucci dress at a third one.

Got a favorite? After a string of appearances in busy Abu-Sandeep suits, the simpler outfits were quite a welcome change!

  1. Hmmm her face looks radiant in the first picture but the sari is for older people not her. Red one looks alright but the horizontal patches right at the top of the blowse kill it for me, and the third one is a disaster.

  2. she looks lovely but I dont understand why she is wearing these full sleeved outfits…its too much fabric. Its like the clothes are wearing her and not the other way around.

  3. Red one is the right choice for her coz it covers up her problem areas making her look thin..Those long blouses and figure hugging dresses make her look chubbier than she is

  4. These pix demonstrate why Ash got so much flak for her post-baby weight while Shilpa Shetty got so much love. Ash is demonstratably uncomfortable with her body, she’s trying to cover up as much as possible. Shilpa on the other hand is embracing it and is totally comfortable in her skin and shape-appropriate clothes. Appearances communicate so much.

    • It’s understandable to see why Aishwarya would be more uncomfortable. Ash was getting flak for her body before she became pregnant (by her own admission!) and Shilpa never has which is of course commendable but she’s also been given a free pass from all of us women because of that. Shilpa know’s she’s allowed to be like this and she probably didn’t feel as much pressure or got as much heat for being pregnant.

Ash’s body was world wide news. It must be tough. I get that because she’s an actor we expect her to look at ease and comfortable but people do change, and I’m sure it must be tough.

  5. The Gucci suit is a disaster. The other two Desi outfits look better.. Red looks lovely on Aishwarya. Wish she would stop wearing those longer saree blouses.

  6. neck up she looks good in all 3 occasions. Her hair and skin looks absolutely fabulous. But neck down its not good in any 3. Why is she wearing full sleeves and bulky Indian wear with tons of fabric?

  7. Is it me or do we have three similar poses – she doesn’t appear comfortable with her body which i think is the problem. She is a new mamma! Embrace it!

  8. The first look is passable. The one is red is beyond lovely. The face, the hair, the pose- everything is stunning. She looks fairly conscious of her body in the Gucci dress and the pose seems a little inhibited.

  9. The cream and black Sabya looks like the outfits that women wore during the Independence days. She looks good in it, but could have picked a different outfit. The colour is the only good thing about the red Sabya.
The hair in the third looks like a wig. Bad styling.

  10. this is a serious matter, not an award show, & she dresses accordingly. Most Abu Sandeep would be too festive so of course she ´ll downplay here.
She is looking great,& that Gucci dress is the business. She looks bootylicious in it, Curvy & her tummy is really flat here! No need to hide Mrs Bacchan, you´re smoking hot! Flaunt it, cause you got it! 😉

  11. Uggh! This is the UN. Indians need to know how to dress professionally. That red salwar suit is appropriate for wedding sangeets. Another beef I have with celebrities – UN is trying to feed very hungry children in extremely starving parts of the world – drop the designer duds and show up in some normal clothes.

Completely agree. And She should have worn saree or salwar on all these occasions like the lady from South Africa who wore traditional outfit.

  13. red one is nice though the velvet looks cheap, but it does not seem event appropriate.
the black & cream one is not giving a good shape.
black dress is ok & boring, done like the pantyhouse.

  14. she looks lovely in the saree, but I am not a fan of it. The third look doesn’t appeal me at all. But she is absolutely amazing in the red one. Love!

  15. Is this a new pose trend to look smaller? Holding on to your arm like that? I know she used to do the “put one foot in front the other” to get a more slimmer photograph, maybe this arm thing does the same trick, she sure looks smaller.

  16. Did the same person decide to comment multiple times? lol because the comments are so redundant. Anyway hands down the red dress is the best out of all the three! Aishwarya looks stunning in red. I’ve always wanted to see her wear red, but she doesn’t wear a lot of red does she? She looks so fresh. Make up is good and hair is perfect with that red dress. Glad she opted for both western and Indian designs.

  17. I can’t believe the amount of flak this woman got when she gained weight after her pregnancy. Its completely uncalled for! No wonder she keeps posing with her her hands infront of her. Anyway she looks okay in all 3. The gucci looks fab on her but the shoes are horrible. Her legs would have looked better in a sexy strappy pair of heels. She should embrace her curvier self and rock it!
