In Ralph & Russo Couture

Just when you thought an Aishwarya appearance this year at Cannes couldn’t get any better, it does! In her strapless Ralph & Russo couture gown featuring dramatic ruffles, the actor looked ethereal.

With the hair in soft curls and the nude lip, the black and white gown made quite the statement on the red carpet. I love that the gown was worn more demurely by her with the bust softened a bit and the leg not being outwardly showcased as some others would have.

Like a certain Ms. Zoe would say, I die!

  9. Bloody hell! This is just beautiful. I’m almost incredulous at how much of a contrast there is from home sightings to these high profile red carpet ones. It’s like two different people…

  17. Aishwarya worked the red carpet like a magician. What a fabulous red carpet moment. Stunning, ravishing and sensational. Aishwarya simply overshadowed everyone. Plus this is how it is done. Dramatic, grand but not Gimmicky, Feather-y.

  18. There is no-one quite as beautiful as her in the whole world!

p.s. her leg was ‘outwardly showcased’ and the silver sandals were a little chunky – you just have the photos that don’t show that…

  21. I’m not an Aishwarya fan but this woman just never fails to look gorgeous. And I definitely like her in front of some hyped ‘fashionista’.

This gown, by no means, is an easy thing to pull off. But just look at the poise and grace of Aish! She’s carrying it with just the perfect attitude and ease. I must say – She has got a gorgeous flawless skin!

Best thing here is the MAKEUP and those EARRINGS. Perfect muted silvery eye shadow done with beautiful earrings that are making her sparkle from everywhere! Nothing else could have so easily added anything more to the look. From head to toe, perfect styling done! Infact if we come to think of it, she has created a certain image of herself as far as her appearances at Cannes are concerned – Especially with the kind of gowns that she wears, all of her looks just reek of one thing – SCINTILLATING WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE ! <3

  22. While Ash looks every bit as otherworldly as any mortal possibly can, the comparisons with Sonam aren’t apt. If there’s one person Sonam needs to learn from its Kangana Ranaut in how to carry bold, experimental and OTT looks with élan. Aishwarya by virtue of being herself manages to shine in everything but even her most die hard fans can never accuse her of ever having had any fashion sense.

  23. As much as I love Ash here, I don’t get the idiotic comparisons with Sonam. Sonam has brought some really good red carpet looks and she upped the fashion bar at the red carpet. Please recall Ash’s prior looks(before 5 years) at the red carpet. Some of them make me cringe. Ya her feathery look wasn’t great but I don’t see how Ash looking good belittles Sonam. It is stupid to compare. Ash has an exceptional beauty that most other people don’t. She has been consistently ranked as the most beautiful women in the world. Even international divas don’t come close to Ash except for Jolie. Can’t we celebrate 2 different women with very different tastes having a ball at the red carpet? Why the unnecessary bitchiness?

Seriously! I am fed up of the negativity on HHC from posters regarding Sonam. Yet posts featuring her are consistently popular. I guess like her or not, can’t ignore her. 😉 Jokes aside though, I think Ash looks amazing in her appearances at Cannes but Sonam looked amazing too. Why can’t they both look great? Why is there always a mentality of pitting somebody (read: women) against each other so prevalent?

Ash looks beautiful in Ralph & Russo but her Oscar De La Renta number this year remains my favorite, so far.

    • I agree. we should look at this objectively. Its just not fair comparing everyone to one of the most beautiful woman with an almost perfect face/eyes/lips etc!!
Aishwarya is born beautiful. Her years of experience in the modeling and red carpet clearly shows. She always gets the makeup right.
No one needs to learn how to dress from others. Let them all find their own calling!!

    • Yes, Even this year her first looks were nothing special. But a face so gorgeous, she can pull off anything and make it look good. But with regard to fashion Sonam is way ahead of Aish though I find Sonam’s style very impractical. And one question – does anyone else find her poses odd and too filmy. Do other actresses do the same.

      Reply
    • Absolutely. I am a fan of Aishwarya, but I do not get the negativity against Sonam when Aish looks good.

I mean, they are individual women. Aishwarya is known more for her beauty, grace, poise and stardom. Her choices in clothes are edgy when needed, but not pushing the envelope. She does her job of brining glamour.

Sonam, on the other hand, brings high fashion with her. She has created a niche space for herself, and made a unique identity. Full marks to her for trying, and putting in effort in each and every look!

They are two independent, successful, presumably strong, beautiful and awesome women. Why does every red carpet outing have to be a put down to the other? Or may be I do not get it because I am not a woman?

  24. I love her in this and she could not have looked more gorgeous. But I don’t get the poses. The first two positively scare me. Ash is such a gorgeous woman, she does not need the crutch of these silly “fierce” poses to work the red carpet. All these poses are stopping the look from being effortless. And i think that is what let’s her down more often than not, because we know the woman can’t be faulted in the beauty department. People who look the best on the carpet/photos i feel are the ones who are completely comfortable no matter what they are wearing. They bring warmth in their eyes when looking at camera or perhaps casually interact with the photogs, smile, laugh, maybe share a joke, wave without trying too hard…. You know, the likes of Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, Halle Berry, Michelle Yoeh, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marion Cottilard, Milla Jovovich, Cate Blanchet, Idris Elba…. Ash looks too much of a diva…. always.

  26. I’ve been an Aishwarya fan for decades..this is the BEST she has ever looked at a red carpet event (in non indian clothes). I am gobsmacked at how beautiful she looks!!!!

  27. Okay I’ll be the sole dissenter. I think the dress is too much for her. It’s wearing her, not the other way around. And I’m sorry because I genuinely think she’s gorgeous and all the usual superlatives, but the posing makes me cringe. It’s so… tryhard. And that dress really doesnt need it because it’s so over the top. I know I know, it’s Cannes, it’s drama, it’s blahblah but I dont like the look, I dont like her poses. Her face of course, saves it all.

    • Ha ha u gotta be joking. There is no bias against Aishwarya – except Cannes her fashion is boring. And the first looks were nothing exceptional. How is it a bias.

      Reply
      • Several people had voiced that same opinion. I’m not saying Aishwarya is some kind of style diva or something, I agree a lot of her fashion choices have become boring since Aaradhya, but it is true that a lot of her looks were being nitpicked and sometimes shady things were being said in the form of compliments I remember this particular incident when she was wearing black and I don’t remember exactly but it was said that she’s wearing it because black has a slimming affect obviously insinuating at her weight issues. That particular post a lot of people caught on to it, I didn’t at first, but reading the comments I realized it too and most of the comments were people saying that was unnecessary. They no longer do that.
