Fresh Off The Runway

She walked the runway for Manish Malhotra, so it only seems obvious that Aishwarya would be the first to sport a couture piece from the designer’s recent collection. And, it wasn’t just one Manish Malhotra for her at Zee TV’s Action Replay Diwali show. She was spotted wearing a more toned down (and we mean relatively) blue anarkali, also by the designer.

The lehenga wasn’t so bad until you reach the hemline. The tiered effect with the purple and the velvet look anything but rich. Which look do you prefer?

    • haha..Thats the first thing that strikes you as odd. I agree. She could go for a darker brown. She does not have to colour it black.
The lehenga colour is very nice however that velvet material and the horrible skirt is a no no. The anarkali is good for a TV show and looks great on her. Even after all the negatives she still manages to look so beautiful.

    • I agree, the hair color is all wrong, do not like the OTT anarkali look. These are the outfits that give MM the reputation of being tacky and too bollywood.

    • I agree and this was the first thought when I saw the pictures………This women seriously needs to change the hair colour…….and instead of getting dark its getting lighter day by day

  1. The hair color is so horrible and looks very unnatural. Aish should go for some warm/golden highlights. The lehenga ofcourse is pretty dowdy. The cobalt blue anarkali is much better in comparison.

    • Yeah, the hair isn’t as bad. And perhaps the reason why she chose such a tacky lehnga…was because retro was all about the shimmer and loudness…and that’s what her movie is about…but that probably isn’t the reason lol

  2. I want to get my scissors and cut the lower part of that lehnga. I also want to buy darkbrown L’oreal hair dye and accidentally throw it in her hair.

  3. The toned down blue one is a lot lot nicer. I love the deep emerald colour of the couture piece but the bottom of the lehngha really ruins the entire outfit!

  4. Ratna’s comment cracked me up. Innocent attempt with with bitchy thoughts (no pun intended). Indian girl;s seem to be mocking blond or almost blond hair. even if they are fair? what’s the reaon?

  5. Too many colors clashing – the hair color with the purples, greens and gold is anything but easy on the eye. it reminds me of shahnaz hussain minus the gawdy make-up. Please Aishwarya, we much prefer your natural toned down look like your pa-in-law’s bday – sigh.

  6. the lehenga without the hemline is better. the hemline might have suited a gown. the recent lehenga’s of MM are like gown inspired lehenga’s & not liking that combo.
Also not liking that hair color on her, does not suit her & dulls her out.

  10. OMG I feel horrified. I have never seen ash look so terrible, hair clothes everything, why would she wear this and not look in the mirror and see its a awful look!
Usually even if her clothes are awful (has been the case often) she looks lovely, but not here, the Lengha look is borderline “what hey” for me, manish should not be allowed to make such horrid outfits.

  11. What is that chandelier hanging from her waist??? When will our celebs realize that less is more? GAWDY is what comes to mind seeing both the pics! The hair color is another offender…ughh…Bollywood needs to wake up to talent and look to the recent Fashion Weeks…MM please quit! sigh πŸ™

  12. Yikes…one can’t look past that hair…makes her look much older than her 37 years…and someone shud tell this woman that she looks good even with her hair tied…she is beginning to look a mannequin, same pose, same hair style, but different clothes.

And what is the fixation with velvet and those gaudy colors??

  14. Choili is nice, skirt is a big no, no, too many layers of frills and colours. The whole outfit looks great on the runway though, maybe because the model is tall and skinny or is it the lighting. I do not like the anarlkali; the patchwork border is awful. Hair colour needs to change, I agree. Disappointing after the Big B b’day event, where she looked lovely.
