In Elie Saab

You wanted her to own her curves, and with this dress, she does. As always, the line will be split in the middle on this but there’s nothing about this look that screams “uncomfortable, uneasy, conscious” as some of you have alleged previously. Not to us anyway. Aishwarya looked lovely.

  2. Shes looks stunning!! Wow they really did well this year (well, with this look) – she looks great here! Dress, styling, love it all! Great pick, I’m glad they picked something that fits like this, its really flattering on her!

  3. Aishwarya looks stunning! Great look! Just on the basis of her two looks – the Abu Sandeep from yesterday and this one – I’d say how true it is that it’s the attitude and the way you carry yourself that truly makes the difference. IMO she looks so confident and spunky here and I love it! The gown is beautiful…especially love the color.

    • haha I was just going to say the same thing. P&P always find it hard to mask their lack of objectivity when it comes to Ash 😉

      • So true, for people who claim to be impartial critics , why did u not post the pics where she looks like wearing just curtains/ bedsheets – so much for owning up her curves !

    • SO TRUE!! Ash-fans all the way…biased also if I may add. This is a fashion blog right? Not an I-Love-Ash fanpage..oh wellll………..

    • Hell yes! Totally agree…. I cannot just believe that this lady is Ash first of all. She is not recognizable at all! Secondly there is nothing great about the gown. Just because everyone thot she wont wear a gown and she did! doesnt make her a yummy mummy or anything at all. Talk about fashion and I cannot rate it more than 4 out of 10. But then its Ash ….! People will give her 10 on 10 no matter what.

this is a beautiful dress, its completely stunning, right out of a fairytale so no bias here. and she looks good and confident.

    • lol..true!..they do ‘sound’ a bit defensive about her in this post. rai looks better in this than the previous abu sandeep disaster

    • OK, that would mean all those international fashion blogs/websites/sites and their commentators are “biased Ash fans” as well..

ever heard of difference of opinion?

      just askin

      • OMG!!I think PnP arent biased at all but just nice ppl who realise that ash is a human being too,but the kind of reactions ppl usually have for Ash which can be so harsh for no reason calling her plastic which is strange considering she’s probably the one of the few rare egs of ppl who havent had plastic surgery.

      • Difference of opinion seems to be too hard a concept for some HHC readers to grasp.Aishwarya looks lovely.PnP stop posting those ‘you are biased’ comments, what’s the point? Sometimes they say you are for Aishwarya, other times they say you are against her! What most of them do not realize is that they themselves are not being objective.

  4. I applaud her for stepping out the way she is …but the hair kills it for me …wish she had gone with a different hair style and quite frankly the dress does her no justice !

    • i agree with u.
bad choice of dress, though the dress shape is good. the material with all that design on it is not working for her, the color also looks dull and to add to it a bad hairstyle.
comparitively she looked bright & nice yesterday.

expected to see her in a nice gown…..

  5. Stunning! She looks much better in this dress than that saree from yesterday. Aishwarya is doing the sensible thing and taking her own sweet time reducing her baby weight which is the healthy way to go about it. Enjoy this time with your baby.

  6. She loves her Elie Saabs. This gown, I must admit, is really gorgeous. With the net sleeves, it is somewhat reminiscent of her Cannes 2010 gown.

  7. THIS.IS.GORGEOUS! She looks heavenly, every inch a DIVA! Being a mom, I can see how REAL she is living her life instead of following the so-called ‘celebrity’ moms. You go girl! So proud of you. And, believe it or not, is coming from a serious critic of hers.

  8. Not bad.. she is learning.. it is a long process learning to be comfortable in your own skin when its nt that awesome but applaud her for trying!

  9. Who sets these rules or standards of what beautiful is.. Who ever said size 2 was perfect.. She looks confident and owns it, that’s what matters.. She is much more than just a pretty face, maybe not to us to who don’t know her.. She knows that and does not need to prove it anyone.. 🙂

  10. Much much MUCH better. Sooooo much better. The makeup is too heavy for how embellished the dress is, but it gets a pass.

    • I agree with you. People are just doing a switch around and taking care not to be mean to Ash, but the truth is, none of her clothes look good on her, let’s face it, her picks are not great. it’s not the weight that is her problem, it’s her choice of outfits mostly, that is bad.

      Reply
    • that is ridiculous. id shudder if that was how limited my sense of self was. this is the reason she is a star and we’re all sitting around commenting on her wearing our daily clothes from our average homes and workplaces.

      Reply
    • that is ridiculous. there is more mettle to her than her appearance. and id assert thats the reason she’s the one there in an ellie saab and us the ones making petty comments.

  12. Couple-o things:

    A- Who is her stylist?!
B- Whyyyy Elie Saab always???? I cringe!!
C- Its just not working. Sorry but its not.

Adele is a large woman and she seems to be a good comparison for Ash in todays date. Ive seen Adele on the RC and she almost always seems to be wearing something that suits her and have attention drawn to her face. Please take tips.

    Thanks!

    • @princessruchi

A- whoever her stylist is, he/she seems to have done a good job this year at Cannes
B- whyyyy not Elie Saab always? Mr Saab is the couturier du jour for celebrities worldwide. Btw aishwarya has chosen other designers like Armani, cavalli to name a few
C- that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. However, most of the international media and readers in this forum seem to differ.

Adele and ash are two different people known for different things. Even now, Ash is not as ‘large” as Adele ( who is also a very beautiful woman IMO). To compare the two would be like comparing Lata Mangeshkar to waheeda Rahman!

She looks classy. Love the color on her

  14. Aish, you did good! I am shocked, but in a really, really good way. I absolutely love this dress, the makeup, the hair, everything. I knew an Elie Saab would be perfect for her. This just goes to show that no matter what size Aishwarya is she is always going to be a beautiful woman. I’ve seen close ups of this look and her face and I just have to say wow! Perfection. Haters eat your hearts out, she looks damn good at any size. It’s just that she needs to dress for her new body and here she is dressed perfectly for a woman who has had a recent gain in weight. This is completely appropriate.

  15. Seriously my own opinion the dress is horrendous. She looks awesome in a saree and a saree is a wondeful garment for a new mom.As a new mom myself,i understand there are limitations and lots of loose flab. But i really do not understand this whole embracing yourself stuff. You had a baby you gain weight you lose weight. No biggie. But Ash’s PR is doing a wonderful job of highlighting the already known fact and shoving it down peoples throats and Ash seems to be keeping her end of the bargain by dressing frumpy like now

    Reply
    • Amen! You said it sister! Stop of the hypocrisy of patronising Ash when you once flagellated her people. This is not about her weight, but her choice of outfits, which is bad!

Ha? You don’t make sense. What is Ash’s PR doing exactly?

I think she looks gorgeous, fairytale stunning. Everything is just looking perfect on her! <33

  16. Beautiful woman! I cannot stop saying that although this blog is all about fashion 😉 She looked great yesterday and she looks great today. Watched the video where she talks about her critics. She looked absolutely happy to me; she even thinks that more people love her than hate her. How nice is that! Regarding her appearance, I think it will only get better from now on since she has stepped out.

    Reply
    • I watched that too….I think she said that for her, hate is like a drop in the ocean, and it doesn’t stick to her, and that she wants rather to bask in the love of her fans…I didn’t get the meaning that she thinks she has few haters…
OMG, how cool of her to say “haters” kyaaa!!!

ok, sorry for going off -topic. Love your blog, PnP!! <33

  19. Agree. She looks good here. I can’t tell if she looks uncomfortable or at peace with how she looks.

As someone who will not be convinced to join the Ash fan club anytime soon, I can only say that it’s unrealistic to expect someone to look perfect all the time. This woman had a good run for decades with everyone going gaga over her “perfect beauty”. If she’s choosing to take a break with her new mommy status, more power to her.

  20. Maybe she read our comments, P and P, hee hee. Bravo, lovely to see a girl OWNING her look. Ms Rai Bachchan looks far more comfortable and at ease in the Elie Saab then she did in that fugly Abu Sandeep. She looks beautiful!

    • I think these modern cameras are to blame, I don’t think she’s as fat as the photographs make her out to be. Cameras can be cruel!

  21. This is a beautiful gown and it looks good on her, but her hair and make up are horrible, no idea why she is wearing her hair this way, it does not make her face look thinner, in case that is the reason.

  22. The gown is amazing and the color is much better on her than all the pastels she wore. I think due to the weight, she did her homework and chose a very flattering gown. This one wins for me than all the other cannes looks.

  23. Love the color on her. Not crazy about the hair, it’s hiding the beautiful face. Just watched interview where she refers to her critics (of her weight) as ‘haters’…..harsh…she’s irritated.

  24. To all those people who think she looks huge get a life! Women come in all shapes and sizes. I think she looks amazingly beautiful(irrespective of her size). You women are brainwashed to think only slim is beautiful. Shame on you!

    Reply
    • I agree. How backward to think that a bigger woman can’t be beautiful. Thats just silly. I think a woman who is healthy (and I mean healthy not the Indian euphemism for fat) and accomplished (as Ms Rai Bachchan is) is lovely. I’m no Ashwariya Rai fan but its got NOTHING to do with her looks, just her acting abilities/choice of movies.

    • when i read those international articles about how people were so harsh and critical of her post baby weight, i thought clearly they are just exaggerating but reading some of the posts here i realized they were not…

she was on E! news earlier and also all the other fashion blogs and international news media have lauded her and they loved her both looks at Cannes..

anyway Ash was on E! news saying she is in a happy phase and doesn’t listen to people calling her names (to do with her weight).. now that is a BAMF! you show ’em!

      Reply
    • I know! Its depressing to know that some people can’t look beyond weight. And to top that, they are saying that those who like her look are just delusional Ash fans.As if even top international fashion bloggers and readers are all ash fans.

  28. i love how she’s become this uber confident woman and is giving all those who discussed her weight issues like it was a national issue something to shut them up!!! she owns this look!!!

  29. Um no, Neha and Sophie for example are when who are not just typically tiny and size 0, you can’t describe them as ‘skinny’. They always look fantastic and not grossly overweight. Ash is currently overweight as demonstrated in these photographs, in my opinion it is neither attractive nor healthy. We all know by now the health risks associated with being overweight, why are prope condoning this?

    Reply
    • They aren’t condoning it. She had a baby six months ago. It’s natural to lose weight by and by. Watching supermodels and Hollywood celebrities return to skinny frames at the speed of light has completely warped our senses of what is natural and what isn’t.
And Aishwarya does NOT look grossly overweight. I’m anything but an Ash admirer but this national hyperventilating about her weight has got. to. stop.

  30. “People” come in all shapes and sizes. Models and actresses don’t. It is in fact this industry that is responsible for making “people” feel less comfortable for being human. And she isn’t owning anything or standing up for anything … she is just dealing with what she’s got. Was there a possibility of her not attending? Perhaps. But that would just send out signals to the world that would burden her down even more. So. Tough shit. Buckle up. Get on the red carpet!

    Reply
  31. I think the gradual demise of her worldly superior looks has made for a humbler Aishwarya. I feel by her poses that she’s lost the attitude she carried pre-pregnancy. All her red carpet appearances made me feel like she was proper arrogant, but here she looks sweet, welcoming and friendly.

    Reply
      • Her demeanor may have changed for now, but don’t be fooled she’ll be back fiercer than before, she knows she is the only beautiful woman on this earth and we the public wont let her forget it.

  32. She looks nice…poor thing has to be given a break from being accused of putting on weight. She is nearing 40. how many more days do we expect her to starve and work out? She looks elegant.

    Reply
  33. Gorgeous! The dress is lovely really compliments her eyes. Just for the record losing weight at record speed like many celebs do post pregnancy is what’s unhealthy, NOT gaining baby weight and losing it at a healthy steady pace.Secondly, celeb or not maybe her priority is her baby and not being slim and appeasing people?SO if she’s choosing to stay at home and caring for her bundle of joy rather than hitting the gyms at a maddening pace…good for her! Btw all those who’re commenting on how she should focus on getting her old figure back, have you ever been parents? Do you know how much time people have to go on a fitness craze with a new born? Hollywood celebs who leave their kids to nannies and day cares to go focus on them self should not be the ideal we should be focusing on, if Ash is choosing to enjoy her child and make that a priority over ‘preserving a public image’ I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. (Btw I’m a complete career person, so I’m not saying she should stay at home all I’m saying is that for the moment if she’s shifting priorities to baby, family etc over image there’s nothing wrong with that)

And finally anyone who’s been thin/slim for a large part of their life, and suddenly gains weight can have a lot of trouble adjusting to the new image so its natural for it to take her time to own it, and I have to say she’s doing a great job. Never been much of a fan for Ash’s attitude, but this time I say kudos to you for not caring about people who’re commenting on things they’ve never experienced themselves.

  34. Very classy, very elegant, very beautiful, very Aishwarya. This couldn’t have been any more perfect from the hair to the make up, to the gown. For the first time since giving birth, Aishwarya owns those curves! Size is not the issue here. A beautiful woman will look good at any size and no one can do anything about it, but she has to learn to dress for her body and she has. And here Aish is dressed to show off the curves at the right places and she does have all the right curves in the right places. She looks voluptuous. One of her best looks on the red carpet ever hands down!

  35. But where is that much talked about fat!!!! She must stay this way..this is the kind of body that women possesed when they were immortalised through painting and sculpture and poetry…
and I am not even paying attention to who she is,she leaves me that unaffected
