she is so pretty..even at her age..in fact she does not seem to age at all..she looks the same as she did back in the day..how??? gaaaah and she looks really good here.

u took the words right out of my mouth… all this dress needed would be her Miss India sash and i would easily believe she was walking down the Miss World stage!!!

    2. kavya at | | Reply

On the contrary I think she had aged and put on weight in the last two years. You will see a huge difference in her pic from 2004 and now. Yet she carries herself with grace and poise

    ash looks lovely here.
love the sari she is wearing at the Sandhya. like most bollywood stars she looks best in indian wear.

  4. annie at | | Reply

She looks gorgeous! I am so happy for her because lately she had been looking a lot older. I love her gown too.

  5. mia at | | Reply

    absolutely gorgeous face.

  6. Karishma at | | Reply

OK, does she have the best skin ever or are plastic surgeons her closest friends? Anyway the gown not that impressive, it’s making her look bigger than she is, and not a fan of titscrepency! I really have no clue why Gauri and Nanika are so popular among the bollywood crowd, their clothes show little imagination and are just not even that pretty!

    1. anita at | | Reply

      lol what’s titscrepency?

    2. sunnit at | | Reply

Hate to sound clueless but what is “titscrepency”?

    3. Swati at | | Reply

I read somewhere that Ash has undereye dark circles…….its the magic of makeup baby. Plus you don’t know how many “layers” of makeup she has on.

  7. Rezia at | | Reply

Ah THIS is why she’s Aishwarya Rai! She looks awesome, the voluminous dress is delicious, and the red lipstick is kick-ass!

    Very pretty. <3

LOVE the red lip and dark hair color on her- she does seem ageless! and poreless for that matter

pageant hair checked, volumnous foo foo gown checked, signature smile checked…skin that looks too good to be true checked. looks great but getting boring…YAWN!

i quite like the gown.. and she looks gorgeous here… but the gown is either too tight in the underarm area or it is flab.. either way, it bothers me…

    1. beans at | | Reply

looks like both Aishwarya and Jaya were in the traditional Kerala Sari at the Bachchan Sandhya… both ladies gooked great… Nothing to beat the understated elegance of the kerala Sari!

      1. Flower Power at | | Reply

err… I think they were wearing Chanderis. At least Jaya was.

  12. Carol at | | Reply

I’m not a fan of the big ball gown. But she looks gorgeous – love the hair and makeup.

The entire family looked good in traditional wear at the Bachchan Sandhya.

  13. pdaervo at | | Reply

    But she looks AMAZING
If I were her (AHAHAHA) I would carry those lights around with me everywhere.

    1. neetu s at | | Reply

      which lights??

      1. pdaervo at | | Reply

        the stage lighting

Not liking the asymmetric cut at the chest.Looks as if she has innerwear popping out.

  18. Najina at | | Reply

she has put on a lot of weight. looking good anyways.

  19. mary at | | Reply

    Completely agree with Rezia.

  20. shuz4ever at | | Reply

In the first set of photos u can clearly see she’s oozing out of the dress…bulges n underarm back fat are soooo unflaterring. She may have a pretty face, but seriously needs to tone up her arms and saggy bits to wear this style…the dress is blah, agree with Karishma…Gauri and Nanika need a design overhaul. Ms. Rai should stick to sarees…they suit her best.

  21. monika at | | Reply

She looks lovely & plumper……but so cute.
Don’t like how the bust area of the gown looks.

I find it ironic how most people go ga-ga over Sridevi’s, Rekha’s or Hema’s looks completely forgetting the fact that these women have had just about as much plastic surgery, if not more than Aishwarya but the plastic surgery card only comes out with Aishwarya :P

I’m not really fond of the dress and that’s not because it’s voluminous. The design in general is not appealing but Aishwarya looks great in it.

    1. GG at | | Reply

I agree with your comment EM. she looks great but the design is not appealing. She carries gowns beautifully so they could have given her a better gown like the gorgeous blue gown she wore at cannes. The only thing going for her is the fact that she has a stunning face. All celebs( Hollywood/bollywood) wear tons of make up since all of them have dark circles, zits and stress signs since they are human just like us.She could however loose that ridiculous pout and she is extremely conscious when it comes to her beauty, it takes away from her looks.

Love her face, the gown not so much.. she always comes across as unreal

  24. diptiN at | | Reply

the dress is hedious. I do like her hair and make up.

    1. diptiN at | | Reply

      meant to say hideous

  25. Ratan at | | Reply

Boring!! The gown – as P&P rightly said – has been done so very many times by Ash that it’s nothing new anymore……

she looks fab, but dont like the “Scarlett o Hara” drape dress so much.. especially how its pushes up the fat from her side into her underarm..

She does usually look stunning.. why not look a little more fun?

  31. MP at | | Reply

Compared to her last couple appearances where she’s looked bloated, old and not-at-all “most beautiful blah blah wide universe blah blah galaxy” – she looks awesome here, glowing skin, healthy shining hair.
Glad she’s got her groove back – hope it’s not temporary.
And I said all this about her while I hate her outfit!

  32. Lily at | | Reply

Ok, I’m going to be one of those rare commenters that is going to review the fashion and overall look rather than repetitively gush over how gorgeous Mrs Rai Bachchan is. Lol.
Though it’s not a bad gown, I think it’s far too repetitive of a similar puffy black gown she wore at a previous Longines event (if I’m not mistaken even that was a Gauri & Nainika). She should have surprised us more. The lipstick looks terrific on her.

  33. Orchee at | | Reply

Does anyone know if Ash has a stylist? surely for events such as Longines, Cannes etc?

  34. dn at | | Reply

She looks gorgeous. So much better than the earlier GN gown.
She looked ethereal for Bachchan sandhya. The family looked perfect together.

    how pretty is she!!

Aishwarya rai…… Stunning I say !!! She carries herself so damn well !!

  37. KS at | | Reply

P&P i think the voluminous gown does suit her.her perosna is little traditional i guess hence a little dramatic clothing suits her more than the other designer gown which look good on other actresses.

  38. sania chaudhri at | | Reply

No,im not a fan,ash has rounded features(face eyes etc) I think she suits a slimmer shillouette!!

  39. kaya at | | Reply

With all her lack of sartorial taste and knowledge, when given the right garments she carries them off with a rare elegance and confidence.

  40. TumHum at | | Reply

gorgeous as usu…the gown is hideous…but she makes it look amazing

  41. SK at | | Reply

not an easy look to carry coz the garment can easily take over … she does carry the gown well… very few people can carry that snow white puffy disney princess variety of gown amongst the indian celebs – she’s one of them :)
i for one love it when i see her face on Melbourne’s trams and billboards advertising loreal and longines etc…
i love her for bringing bollywood to the common westerner :)

  42. Sharin at | | Reply

I love the bodice of the gown but I don’t like the bottom part. I guess Longines just loves the ball gown look. She looks great.. I think she always looks great and I hate the comments on makeup, plastic surgery etc (about her supposed “layers” of makeup and all).. come on ppl! Of course everyone has zits (her forehead is a problem zone for her) and undereye circles and PORES lol.. but just because she looks good doesn’t mean its solely the magic of makeup…don’t discount God so easily!!! Its so annoying when people do that! I don’t look like Aishwarya Rai when I get my makeup professionally done! lol.
