In Nachiket Barve

How many ways can you say ‘same old, same old‘?

The Nachiket Barve suit may be bit of a change from the volume and embellishment Aishwarya usually favors but the styling has become bit of a snoozefest. And can someone please hand the woman a hair-tie already?!

  1. Oops said it too soon. Why should I feel guilty about bashing Aishwarya dress sense? She does it to herself. It’s become amusing nowadays. I mean Ash’s mother-in-law, as well as her mother looked better than Ash. Jaya and Mrs. Rai (Ash’s mum) are wearing no glitter, just simple silk sarees and they look gorgeous.

    • Sooo true! Spot on observation. I’m just bored with the Ash postings now. Its like the same suit just a different color. She is totally on snooze patrol!

  2. If she’d opted for a simple updo and worn her dupatta across her neck with the green part showing, this look would have worked. Such a shame.

  3. These pics are a lot more flattering than the ones on other sites. In those, her make-up was an absolute disaster; caked on and extremely white compared to her real skin tone.

The suit is same old but I doubt anyone really expects style from Aishwarya. Her face alone was enough in the past but not anymore.

  4. Why is she dressed like this when her mom and MIL look so elegant and lovely in their sarees, at the same event?
Second time in a week she is next to women wearing lovely sarees (Manju Warrier), why doesn’t some of that style rub off her?

  5. Aishwarya u need to:
    1. Change ur hair color
    2. Stop hiding behind volouminous outfits/dupattas
    3. Stop caking on makeup
    4. Change ur hairstyle atleast once in a while

The same dress would have worked had she plaited her hair and worn her dupatta up.

  6. Why the negativity? She’s never been the one to claim on being a fashionista, what she does claim to being is a doting mother and a wife, and i guess she looks the part pretty well. and who cares about her clothes, when you have a face like that ! give her a break ladies.

  7. A closer look shows the sleeves are 3/4th and a nice V-neckline to the suit .. It would have been so much better had she worn the dupatta across her neck with just the green showing .. but no she has to cover herself up head to toe. What would have been even better — a green or black bindi maybe and hair styled differently!
I don’t get why Aishwarya wants to get away with these terrible sartorial choices, just on the basis of her face. It is not that she doesn’t care about fashion — she picks up latest pieces from the designers always .. always has too much make-up on .. so she does care about how she looks! She needs to accept her new body and flaunt her curves .. the way she dresses and her body language say no confidence and insecure to me.. NO way does it say a strong, successful, confident woman with no body issues ..
I can go on and on because it has become so annoying now!

  8. I disagree with people here saying her mum and Jaya were better dressed, this is such a chic outfit but unfortunately her caked up make up and her ruin the look completely.
Her mum and Jaya did LOOK better though, simply coz they carried their outfits well. She should opt for a more natural look, this heavy make up is in fact aging her.

  10. I would say that she’s just insecure about her face/neck area and that’s why she constantly has her hair down and framing the side of her face. As for the insecurity part – can you really blame her? I don’t know ANYONE else who has received more praise and extreme hate at the same time than Aishwarya Rai. Even if you look at forums or blogs about Angelina Jolie or other beautiful women you don’t see such extreme reactions as you do with Aishwarya. She’s ripped apart by people (Indian ppl usually) if she wears her hair up at Cannes/ ripped if she wears her hair down – she can never win!

That being said I think she could look better if she died her hair black, razor cut the ends or layered the ends and front layers to reduce that thickness at the bottom and wore patterned full sleeve wrap dresses that are a-lined and don’t cling to her. Saris would work nicely as well if they were full sleeved. I’m completely sick of seeing her in these anarkali type suits and gigantic lenghas.

  11. This looks reminds me of the Pink suit she wore to Neelams wedding several years ago. I like this look, the colors and the detail on the shoes especially. However I HATE the hair. It’s incredible her hair stylist lets her step out of the house with her hair like that.

  12. My only criticism of her lately is that she seems to lack confidence. She’s always so covered up, from the drapy clothes that seem to swallow her, to the big hair, to the overdone make-up, and she seems to be very uncomfortable and nervous being in front of an audience, like she’s trying very hard not to make a single wrong move. She leans away from the camera and the people, making it seem like she doesn’t want to be there, and her smile is always so tight.

I know once you become a mother, it can hard be to come to terms with your new body and figure out how to dress it and be confident in it. It’s also very hard to see yourself as anything other than a mom, or to sort out how a mother should dress and act. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to make this transition with millions of people all over the world criticizing you at every step. She’s still an incredibly beautiful woman, though, and very accomplished and successful. She deserves to be confident in herself, and not just as a wife and mother. I’d just like to see her have a bit of her old confidence. To look comfortable, relaxed, to smile a real smile. I think confidence would go a long way toward making her look better, even if the clothes don’t change.
