I am proud (so far) …and I’m not even Indian.

like the cream pallu, is elegant. like the blouse sleeve length – this looks good on slim upper arms of ash, not flabby arms of some other women. like the modern twist that sabya’s done on the 50’s raj kapoor -nargis type movie saris, a breath of fresh air from those same tired ol chamkila-sleeveless blouse manish malhotra creations

  3. s_star at | | Reply

I think its the same sari she wore the Filmfare or was it IFFA awards.
Can’t say much, but not loving the hair though.

WOW. Would love to see clearer pics. Makes the Indian in me proud.

Unique and stylish sari design by Sabysachi again. Mostly all the other designers all copy each other. dying to see it close up!

Wow what a beauty Aish is, can’t wait to see the show. And indeed the full sari

She looks stunning from what little I can see.

I am so glad she didn’t wear a manish malhotra or any of the ubiquitous sequined outfit so common these days. Also glad that she chose an Indian outfit.

    she looks elegant

  15. shopaholicNY at | | Reply

she looks awesome–and she wears the sari like it should be worn–hope certain other actresses(*cough priyanka cough*) would learn..
Ash makes me proud to be of Indian heritage

shouldn’t it be Mrs Bachchan instead of Ms Bachchan?

    1. girlie at | | Reply

From what I know, Ms is technically correct. It can be used irrespective of the marital status. However, since we know that she has married a Bachchan, there is no confusion hence we might as well use Mrs Bachchan. Ms Rai is however, appropriate.
Sorry for all the lecture :-)

      1. zini at | | Reply

Many of this gen women prefer Ms. over Mrs. (and over Miss before wedding) in a professional setting (think about it…would you like to be introduced in professional atmosphere as Mrs. so and so or Ms. so and so). Also, women who don’t change their last name after marriage definitely want to be called Mrs. (think Miss Sharma the day before wedding and Mrs. Sharma the day after).

Addressing Ms. for women is the international norm in progressive countries, just like men don’t have to change from Mr. to Mrs. after wedding.

WOW!! This is totally making me forget her black suit during her first appearance. Love the outfit. She does look her best in Indian attire.

    1. Sharin at | | Reply

she did say that she planned on wearing a sari for her previous Oprah appearance but something about a luggage problem or timing problem made her wear the suit.

  19. SS at | | Reply

Oh I hope she is as fun and bright on the show as she looks in the pictures….

    Aish always beautiful.

She looks gorgeous, that’s nothing new. Am glad she’s wearing an Indian outfit instead of a gown or suit (like last time). I am starting to like Sabyasachi. Manish Malhotra’s work is too blingy and repeated.

  22. RZ Sokol at | | Reply

She looks so lovely in indian clothes! I think she is very graceful with minimum makeup. Oh sabyasachi, how I love thy designs

  23. Tuktsar at | | Reply

    Loved it!!

  24. Aarthi at | | Reply

She looks beautiful!! I’m so glad she did not wear a Neeta Lulla creation.

I hope the rumours about their separation is true. Stick with Sabyasachi Ash.

    <3 <3 it!

But her pose in the second picture looks a lot like my grandfather’s, whenever he was about to let out a big one!!! lol…can’t stop laughing!

@pdaervo – I’m really surprised to find you’re not Indian, considering how religiously you follow the blog :)

    1. Divya at | | Reply

oh btw….didn’t she wear a very similar saree to the filmfare awards?

      1. pdaervo at | | Reply

        haha, I’m Sri Lankan :)
…there’s not much to follow in terms of Sri Lankan, well, anything

      2. Pri at | | Reply

the blouse is similar.. the the sari was black and gold at filmfare

    2. Belle at | | Reply

So the first here with this opinion-I don’t like it at all. The sari is bleh and the blouse is even worse. It’s on Aish so apparently it’s all awesome but had anyone else worn it I’m sure they would’ve gotten the beat down. She doesn’t look good at all IMO and the blouse it seems makes her look heavier then she is.

s_star, this isn’t the same Sabyasachi she wore at the 2009 Filmfare awards.

She looks lovely here, but can’t credit the outfit to her good taste in clothes (I personally have never liked her off screen outfits). Sabyasachi was Mani Rathnam’s choice for Aishwarya’s clothes in Raavan and she seems to have taken a liking to the look she sports iin the film and is borrowing from it in real life. Her look at the Filmfare awards (tSabyasachi, simple make up, tied up hair, minimal jewellery) isn’t Aish at all! Mani’s leading ladies are always impecabably turned out and completely in character.

I love Sabyasachi. Ethnic and elegant and not Bollywood bling!

    1. Bharati at | | Reply

Agree, whether its Madhoo, Manisha, Rani or Aish they have looked their most beautiful in the simplest of ethnic sarees and make up in Mani’s films.

  28. Preeti at | | Reply

Oh she looks good!! So glad to see someone wear the saree like they’re suppose to unlike miss chopra!!! Is that abhi sitting with her or something? O_o

  29. ronan at | | Reply

i was waiting for this since i spoted the news few weeks ago .. i was like god .. let her choose some thing from sabyasachi …

one thing i like abt sabya is he is so unique and brings the true indian ness to the garments ,,, hate those blingy manish clothes theay are so gawdy and same designs .. its like ..oh weve seen it a million times …

aish nailed it this time … was wondering what abhishek wore … ? i hope not a match much ..like he did at 2009 cannes .. remember …

aish u make us so proud .. elegance and beauty at its high … kudos to sabya ..

    1. i don’t think she really had to wear a sari for the occasion – it’s a talk show, not such a formal event.
    2. oh lord! please somebody help her with her shoe collection – she has the most ugliest pair of shoes on with that sari (if you’ve seen the video)
