In Monisha Jaising

At a press meet in the capital for her movie Sarbjit, Aishwarya went the desi route in a white Monisha Jaising anarkali. After her several gown looks, it was nice to see her in a relatively simpler look. Having said that though, can’t say am a fan of that lattice weave design on the bodice.

  1. Back to bling. This suit, which is really quite nice, but does not do anything for Aishwarya . She should stick to less bling. I wonder why her stylist doesn’t encourage her to try a wider color palette and less bling. Gold shoes is a no. And the same hair was boring at first, but now just plain irritating.

  2. Didn’t realize how wrong one can go with a white and gold kurta. Now I know! Ash please stop putting us through this torture of seeing you wear one horrendous outfit after another. Kills me because she is so beautiful but wears the worst clothes. Wish her stylist would go but something tells me all these decisions are Ash-even when she says she has no time…

  3. Why does she never try – how about white and gold(minus the bling) and then some ruby for jewelry? Also, what’s with the makeup?

  4. The skirt portion is nice but athiya shetty can teach her a thing or two of how to do Desi in a breezy manner .
Ash is still stuck in the last decade with gold trims and bling. She could do so much better and needs more colours . The green kurta and her promotional college trip look were so much more fresh.

  5. In the shops I see different styles from the readymade labels but celebs still seem to be stuck on anarkali. It is getting dated. This off white and gold has nothing to recommend it, it is like the designer just phoned in the specs.

  6. Lovely and simple look….she looks her best and very young in these kind of get ups…off shoulder gowns make her look a bit plump.

  7. We all don’t like her dressing sense most of the time. I have even situations where I have thoroughly hated her outfits(AJSK tents). But last night I was on HHC binge going through all Aishwarya’s posts from last five years. To my surprise, she looked utterly gorgeous in each one of those outfits..even the ones I hated at that point of time. I just wonder if our over expectations from her draw all this negative response. Agree that she is not a fashionista for sure and does not freakishly follow trends but doesn’t even dress that bad like we think. She looks lovely here.

    • Thank you for this comment. I feel the same way. She doesn’t deserve the amount of bad reviews she get. And guess what, after I got over the initial shock, the purple lips totally grew on me. Props to p&p for being bold enough to take this stand. And the international media featured many of her looks and sonam’s looks in their best dressed lists; not sure why we are so harsh to judge our own

    • There is a difference between looking good and being stylish. No one ever said that she looks bad. She has a gorgeous face and she turns out decent always , but there are hundreds dressing up like that. Who wants to see them? This platform is all about being stylish and thats where she mostly lacks. The X factor is missing.
The awkward moment- When you have a world of designer wear to choose from and you appear in same drab clothes, hair n makeup.

Noone is questioning her beauty here.
The problem is not having a style of her own, and not actually even trying any contemporary / chic styles.
I think she looks the most gorgeous / comfortable in traditional sarees, but those sightings are few and far between.
What she (or maybe her ‘stylist’) seems to prefer are voluminous blingy god-awful tents (read anarkalis / pageant-like gowns / lehengas / other non describable clothing), which do absolutely no justice to her.
I’d actually take even this silhouette featured above on her any day, than those never ending AJSK and other designer monstrosities.

        Ok rant over 😛

        • I was talking about the dressing sense/style too not her beauty. I also used to feel she’s far behind the contemporary fashion. But looking back at some old outfits of hers…I felt it’s not as bad as I felt. Over expectations from her make us feel underwhelmed almost always. But she does dress ok (although not great), but NOT bad.

          • You are right Tanvi. Infact you are always right. Aish used to look so fashionable and modern when she came into the scene. If you look at her interviews and photos of her early days you can see. I don’t think none of the current fashionistas can come close. Only from the past 3,4 years she is inconsistent. That too because she is not in her previous shape to rock all type of looks. She should get that confidence back.

  8. That green Payal Khandwala look from a short while ago was perfection. I really hope she gives us more of those. Isn’t it hideously hot in India right now to be wearing these full length outfits with so much fabric? I understand Ms. ARB likes a certain silhouette, but maybe she can play with colors and fabrics and be kinder to herself in the summer?
