In Manish Malhotra

It was pastels again for Ms. Rai Bachchan who chose to wear a pale pink (or is it coral?) Manish Malhotra sari to a recent Awards. As lovely as she looks, it’s hard to get excited about an outfit that been seen all too often in about a million subtle variations.

    • i’d stick with plain and simple gold sandals with no embelishments or work whatsoever because the sari iself is so busy. i wouldnt go for coral or peach shoes to avoid being to matchy, and the clutch should be plain too.

  2. she seems to go through phases – pale pink and now coral at the NDTV Indian of the YEar awards and this. Pity she’s not attending the Filmfare awards – was so looking forward to her outfit at that event!!

  3. I think she looks really really lovely! Especially after an illness! 🙂

And just my two cents; contrary to much unconstructive negativity I think she is maturing beautifully well.

    • I agree. In hindsight even her current naysayers will look upon her as one of the most beautiful women to grace the Bollywood silver screen much in the league of Madhubala or Rekha. I love the fact that she has not pandered to the size zero craze and hope she never does. go Ash!

  4. wowwwwww…ash’s looking awesome!!! you just have to take a look at the other women who attended the same event and their horrible sense of style and beauty (?) to understand As is way way ahead in the beauty/looks game! Some of these ladies are prolly half Ash’s age, yet Ash still manages to outshine em all!

  5. *Yawwwwwwn* *snore* Same flat-ironed mahogany hair left open with side part, same (overdone) make-up, pastel blingy sari….she always looks the same. Honestly speaking, that wow factor is gone.

Her mom was looking better than her at this function (check it out…purple silk sari).

  6. it looks coral to me – its actually a pretty saree but like you say, I feel like I’ve seen it on Aishwarya a million times before. I really wish she’d try something different when it comes to sarees. I’d love to see her in that chanderi saree Kareena wore or a Satya Paul.

  7. to disagree, i don’t think see looks that great. … unlike the 70s or the 50s…there’s not a group of really attractive women in bollyw…
there are more really hunky men then women. most of the girls or at best above average…

  8. I can’t get past her face!! It’s breathtaking! I would give my arm and leg to look like her!!!
And guys, please stop all these negative comments. They’re all so shallow and passive. Why does Aishwarya get so much criticism even after achieving SO much is beyond me. And not even constructive criticism!! Criticism for the heck of it. It’s pathetic.

    • How is it not constructive criticism to say she should come out of her comfort zone and try new things? She’s gorgeous and she was lucky to be born with that and it’s great that she maintains her beauty. However, this is a fashion blog and it’s fair to say that many average-looking woman stand out far more than her because they express their personality through fashion. If I was to look at most of Aishwarya Rai’s clothes on someone who is not blessed with her face, I would not look twice.

      • “it’s fair to say that many average-looking woman stand out far more than her” Oh really? Could you please give me a ‘few’ names of the ‘many’ average looking women who ‘stand out far more than her’??

Aishwarya Rai is clearly one of the best dressed women. Her fashion blunders are very less in number (But they happen with everybody). When compared to others too, she’s much, much better and has a great sense of style and Fashion. She was the woman who got our actresses addicted to gowns! She’s fashion icon! Hail Ash!

        • Yes,hail her!! People always have a go at her for the Cannes disaster but it can happen with anyone. She’s well-turned out most of the times. And Saba, she’s not just “lucky” but also supremely talented. Very underrated actress. And yes, please do name those “average-looking women who stand out far more than her”. I want to know cos I honestly can’t think of anyone.
People are not just saying that she should come out of her comfort zone. They’re saying all kinds of rude things about her looking older than Abhi, her upturned eyebrows, her ironed -hair. That’s plain disgusting. She’s probably the only Indian actor to be known everywhere! Hell, even people in Serbia and Romania and Puerto Rico know about her.I was talking to this person from Romania(who is clueless about the Hindi Film Industry)and he knew a lot about Aishwarya and told me that Rai means heaven in Romanian. She’s ethereal.

      • agree. She is a very underrated actress. I actually quite despised her hammy performances in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas but it took a raincoat to change my mind. I just wish she’d do more of such stuff.

  9. Beautiful face, FUGLY saree…
I think MM clothes should be added to the “Crimes of fashion” hall of fame… In the same league as harem pants, crocs, acid wash denim and visible bum clefts!

  11. If one forgets the fact about her repetitive sense of style, she looks perfect! Perfect hair, perfect makeup, great blouse, lovely earrings, beautiful saree, cool clutch and a B.R.E.A.T.H.T.A.K.I.N.G. F.A.C.E.

I’m loving it! WooHoo!! Congratulaions, Ash, this is your fifth award in one month! And I’m happy she has recovered almost completely! 🙂

  13. This is actually a very nice sari. I think it would look better on someone with a darker complexion though. It looks very vanilla on her. Then again that’s her vanilla. Pretty enough, bland, boring, unoriginal, you get the idea.
