Dressed Down

The boots and the black pants are fine but oh-my, how dowdy is that off center silk shirt! Again, Junior B steals the limelight.
P.S. Someone give us one good reason as to why Ms. Rai who normally dresses up for high-profile events is dressed down.

This may be a “big party” to you but it’s like a very small Thanksgiving party for the Bachchans, my dahling!
first of all, the condescension in your tone is seriously amusing.
Second of all, by your own logic, if our idea of a’ big party’, is the Bachchans idea of a ‘small party’, then our idea of an elaborate, dressy outfit that one of us would wear to such a ‘big party’ should be the Bachchans idea of a casual outfit that they would to such a ‘small party’.
This is of course assume that your thinking is logical, which (in my opinion) it is not, because there is *always* such a thing as occasion appropriateness, and it applies to everybody, celeb or non-celeb

I guess the event theme would be simple and non dressy..that explains why most turned up wearing Jeans with different tops or simple kurtas..not just her.
If the theme is simple dressing then this is appropriate.

it is plain and simple, she does not have s sense of style and does not want to spend money on a stylist or GOOD clothing. As far as this look is concerend, her boots are too short to be worn with tucked in pants. the booths either need to hit the knee or be ankle booths. what is the weather like in mumbai? like 90 degree F
she has tucked her jeans into booths that are too tight, as a result the pants have gathered around her knee. the top, i do like the color, but the style is not event appropirate. She could have worn her jeans with a white shirt or nice kurta.
But aren’t her boots knee length here?
may be they are supposed to be knee lenght,but because the pants are too thick, the booths come way below her knee, all you see at the knee are the pant crunched into many folds. i saw a close up of the photo on another site.
The boots make her look stocky, the shirt emphasizes her hips, not flattering at all. Her husband looks better, right.
WOWWW…her face is GLOWING. :) What a beauty. Whenever I look at her, I can not go past the face. I couldn’t care less about what she wears(unless it’s completely pathetic). She’s above all that.

she is gorgeous, i don’t deny it. but just because you’ve a pretty face does not make you perfect or make your sub par dressing above average.

I just do not understand why don’t people accept that Ash does not have a great sense of style!! YEs, she is really pretty but commenting on her very obvious bad fashion sense does not mean people are jealous of her!!

Casual and relaxed looking – jeans and kurta etc worn by others at the event as well. So obviously not meant to be too dressy an event. AbhiAsh are glowing and in love.

The outfit is nothing spectacular but Aish looks pretty. Such a gorgeous woman. ABJr definitely needs to invest on some razors. :P Hate the AE type necklace on him. Eww.

Face and hair look gorgeous, but the clothes don’t flatter her figure – makes her looks a little preggy and chunky at the hips. They look happy together.
The blue suits her, and she seems to be glowing most of the time she is standing next to her hubby, which is nice. I think it’s the comfort factor, which is missing from her face every time she is alone, and ends up looking icy.
This is an outfit (without those boots) I would wear for a casual outing, and maybe for a party but with accessories. This looks plain.
I think its the boots that make her a somewhat carrot shaped. If she had worn pumps and a bit more jewelry, this look would have been fine.

What is with the Miss Worlds and disgusting sense of style. PC cant look behind her micromini dresses, lets not even talk about Yukta Mookhey…and now Aishwarya! I mean either the Miss World judges need to make their decisions better, or Aishwarya can stop being cheap and not use her brains and hire a stylist. I now live in NYC but have lived all my life in amchi Mumbai. Could never stand to wear anything but peep toe and strappy sandals such was the humid, sultry weather. Can’t really understand the current obsession for boots and panty hose in that hot, humid,sticky climate .. they must be frigging out of their minds these babes..

These boots were made for GAWKING !!! For anyone’s sake hire a stylist PLS and spare us the horror.
They are both dressed casually because it was a casual dinner, pictures of the other guests confirm the dress code.
Also, the length of the shirt is cutting her off at her hips therefore making her look wide. Her jeans and boots are fine, ankle/knee length boots are not going to make a difference to her bottom half. In fact ankle boots would emphasize stockiness. People are complaining that pointy boots are such a big NO, was she to wear square toe boots then? Most boots ARE pointy. And now please don’t haggle over the size of the point, her boots appear to have a long toe box.
