In Armani Privé

Abhishek joined Aishwarya at Cannes today for the amfAR gala which the two are hosting. The big event that sees just about the who’s who of the entertainment and music world saw Aiswharya in a shimmery Fall 2013 Armani Privé couture gown while Abhishek contrasted her in a black bandhgala long jacket.

Adding a pop of color to Aishwarya’s sparkly look that consisted of Chopard jewels were a bold lip and turquoise eye shadow.

She looked glamorous but are you wishing she wore something desi for her final appearance at the ongoing festival?

    • Oh and Abhi looks very jet lagged and lost.. I would have expected him to clean up and put his best forward to match his wifey.

      • Abhishek looks like a doorman! I’m cringing at the heaps of fabric gathered at his ankles! At least get a proper tailor yaar!

        • Come on people that is rather harsh.
I do Wish he was not so averse to putting on make up , at least to cover his dark circles like other male actors do.

      • I agree. Abhishek looks so odd with Aishwarya here. (“woh kahan, yeh kahan” sentiment). He could have cleaned up better.

  1. She is looking gorgeous. I am happy she added the pop of colour with the lipstick and eyeshadow. I am not missing her in Indian wear because for me she carries India in her personality, not in her clothes. Her character is desi and her achievements took desi to videsi( foreign) platform. Besides she has attended AMFAR three times earlier and all three times she wore Indian wear: Abu-sandeep twice and Tarun tahilani once. It was time to show hollwood that Indians can equally rock in western and Indian wear.

      • I am not talking about ‘showing-off’. I am talking about ‘showing your versatility’. I am not talking about ‘proving a point’ to hollywood . I am talking about ‘presenting’ yourself and your talent to the world. Going by your logic ,India is not required to develop and try to show superpower countries USA and US its power because that would mean we have inferiority complex. It is not about ‘inferiority complex’. It is about ‘inception’. Creating a space for yourself. Attaining recognition and respect.

Give me a break guys! When she wears indian we want her to wear western, when she goes ahead and does exactly that we want her to wear indian. I think she looks fabulous! Just a tad disappointed that all her looks were in the gold-silver category, but that’s ok I guess. Also the turquoise eye does go with the bright red lip, but minor gripe really.

    • Absolutely agree with you ? Why are u whining do much payal what is wrong with not going desi …we have seen her do that before ….I really don’t get the concept of critics whining about celebs not going desi on global carpet ? Why don’t u guys whine when they do western on Indian red carpets ?does it really matter in an era of globalization ….as long as you look presentable I really give a damn if u are wearing desi or western !! #sickandtired#

    • I guess Aishwarya went with these shades primarily to accentuate her now slim body! She has to flaunt it for herself, her endorsements and her critics ????! She has probably even missed sporting gowns such as these for the last 3 years! Abhishek probably couldn’t clean up because of shooting which requires continuity! He can’t simply shave or trim his hair… but could have sported a different suit. Like Aishwarya’s appearance end to end and I’m personally relieved that there is no desi ensemble! Would like to see her in sarees in India appearances going forward…

  3. I like the gown on her a lot. But good lord, is that green/blue eye makeup I see there? that looks so bad, especially when her mouth is a bold red.
Ruined the whole look for me.

    • Agreed. The eyeshadow dated the make up a bit. Made it very 80s.
Also I was not craving for desi but I was craving for something non-neutral u know – a bright color/floral something.

      Reply
    • Agreed completely. Don’t like the mix of red lip with the bold eye shadow one bit. The dress does look lovely on her though.

      • There are different schools of thought in makeup .I think heavy eye makeup pale lips or bright lipstick and natural eye make-up are a general rule, and they look good in photo-shopped pictures only. but I don’t think it always needs to be observed. There are some trends in make-up at the moment that encourage to emphasise both lips and eyes.

        • In general, I’m not a fan of OTT makeup on Aishwarya. My favorite makeup look of hers is from the second day. She has so much natural beauty that she can still rock a look with minimal makeup.

          Reply
    • The makeup is so jarring. The eyeshadow looks weird and her hair looks dated to me. She looked wonderful on the last two outings, wonder what went wrong here?

  4. She looks absolutely lovely. I was hoping for a bit of color but am not disappointed by this look. Her hair has been styled beautifully throughout though. Foundation is a tad too much at this appearance and Monday’s, but then I am nitpicking! Abhishek looks a little scruffy-probably has to keep that image because he is shooting – so he’s excused. His bandhgala is really nice though.

    • Thats just her eye. One lid is more prominent than the other which is why that eyebrow is always raised slightly. Look at all her photos you’ll notice this.
Plus her makeup is done by professionals so they would definitely make sure it’s even.

  5. I really don’t mind her not sporting Indian designer (she din’t have much luck with them did she?)
But choosing monotonous colors with red lips all the way is predictable and boring….
Plus the front drape or hang of the cloth isn’t very pleasing. The gown itself isn’t a great choice for anyone who has good choice of fashion.
Her make up except for day 2 has been too white too in your face!

  6. SHE looks smashing!! Love the retro hairdo and how the make up does all the talking while the gown remains understated. Yes, I wish like others she had left Cannes 2014 with a bang! A bang of bold sexy colorful outfit! Not sure if it had to be desi.. just something fun and bold would have been nice! Still…she’s not looked this good in months and here’s hoping the trend continues! Ash is back! 🙂

  7. She just cant can she? Now that’s shes had a great cannes run you go – wish she went desi ? NO I don’t . Clearly no indian designer has ever done justice to her at any international event. Lets just celebrate her choice and how good she looks. And lets not forget shes on an international platform representing am international organisation. Going desi isn’t always appropriate or called for. Besides its her choice.

  8. She looks fresh, delicate and effortlessly elegant. I’m not complaining she didn’t do a single desi look this time when she looks so breathtaking in all three appearances. Considering her track record with desi looks she might have just ruined the fab run at this year’s Cannes had she tried to do so.

  9. No way! Am glad she didn’t wear Indian- she’s worn enough in the past. But I knew she’d wear Armani prive but wish she had worn a nicer style. Also since she did gold, white would have been nice to see her wear a bright colour gown. The red lip was already done on the 1st night so could have been given a skip today.

  11. she looks stunning on the whole. But, I don’t like her makeup, I feel it is too harsh. She could have toned down the eye makeup and the gone with some other lip color. and am dying to see her wear her hair up in a simple ponytail sometime in the future.

  12. Ash looks statuesque in that gown…………..her hairs looks lovely……only gripe …..makeup…..the foundation is a bit overdone

  13. Why wear Indian? Ash looks lovely, just wish she had changed up the colors of her gowns, rather than sticking to gold and neutral tones.

  14. I think she looks fabulous .. She does not need to wear desi outfit in every cannes to prove her roots…It’s what she feels like as long as it is appropriate for the event. She took me by surprise this Cannes Festival…gorgeous!!! 🙂

  15. nah…we have had enuf of a ‘desi appearances’…my gripe is her eye shadow which starkly contrasts her red lips ( in a bad way)…otherwise she looked good. Abhi on the other hand needs to polish up…he needs a good styled haircut…clean shave…a stylist and some oomph to go with all that. Right now he looks like a worn out indian politician !!! not a STAR !!!

  16. I may be in minority and you may hate me for this but when I compare the 3 outfits ash wore to the 3 outfits sonam wore, I prefer sonam’s choices. And I am not saying sonam looked better than ash because I think both look equally gorgeous. Nor am I saying what ash wore is not good. I just prefer sonam’s sartorial choices over ash. Nonetheless ash looks gorgeous here.

    • I agree with you! Sonam experiments a lot more with her fashion and she changes it up drastically head-to-toe with every appearance. Aishwarya is like a beautiful painting that you just want to stare at all day. I personally don’t care for her style because she just overwhelms with her beauty.

  17. Don’t like her hair and makeup here. Her two previous looks made her look so young, but I won’t say the same about this one. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I somehow feel she tries to dress too “classic” and elegant when she’s around family.

  18. We’ve had an overload of Aishwarya in desi looks back in India. I think this was a very welcome change – one that I hope spills over even when she gets back. She looked great!

  19. God. Abhishek doesn’t need to be next to her. Not in those clothes, not with that scruff.

For the first time ever, I am starting to feel like he doesn’t deserve to stand next to her :/ I never minded when they looked equally bad 🙁

  20. I think she looks absolutely brilliant here. There is not one thing I would like to change about this look. I think you guys are just being really mean about all the Cannes appearances.
Also, I think Abhishek is looking dapper in that Bandhgala. If anything, he is only adding more charm to Aishwarya’s look.

    • I also think they look gorgeous together. Because of the hairstyle and earrings, Aishwarya is looking like an Italian beauty and Abhishek is looking good in Indian wear. I agree that he is looking a bit tired but as he is doing so much air travel( shimla to mumbai for logo launch, mumbai to shimla, shimla to delhi, delhi to london, london to cannes and then AMFAR preparations- All of this in 2 days) ,we can excuse him. For me he is a very handsome Man who is wrongly presented. If he gels his hair and tries different hairstyle and also sports different types of beard then he will look much better. He already has his tall frame and dark complexion to his advantage.

  21. I really wish Ash wore Desi here. Not anarkali but a gorgeous lehnga or a classic saree or atleast wear a Indian designer. I am also missing some colour in all 3 of her appearances.

  22. This gown is gorgeous,nd i love that she gave us 3 distinct looks, even thought the color palette was similar. She has over shadowed everyone with her confidence.I am defn not missing sabya, manish, abu sandeep or any other over hyped indian designer who just add layers blingy stuff with no structure and call it fashion. They just have no idea how to dress up a non skinny person,i’m glad she wore western all 3 times

  23. Ash has looked great – absolutely stunning this year (I anyways like her every year)…She is our pride at Cannes… Critics, please cut her some slack…sick of minor gripes, desi, and all such bullshit…can we compliment without making it a backhanded compliment…learn to be generous people!!! Suggest you to compare with other global celebrities and you would realise she has done very well…

  24. She is looking picture perfect 🙂 If she didn’t want to wear desi , that’s her choice . Nothing to do with how polished she is looking. Let’s focus on that please !!

  25. She wears enough desi in india! Im thrilled with her choices at Cannes this year. She looks gorgeous! Love the hair! She looks like an international celebrity not just someone who is representing Bollywood. Wish he has worn a suit

  26. This time at Cannes, Ash did good! Like this look, but the hair and makeup comes across as a bit too harsh. Maybe i am still biased by her first event where she hit out of the ballpark with her much more softer look.. like the dress , and not so much the earrings.. But still overall, a pretty decent look. And Abhishek’s pants could have had a better fit – did he wear his dad’s? But Abhishek sports a neat sense of humor (a fun tweet about his wife’s first look at Cannes) which is more priceless than any pricy fashion! Great couple and hope to see more great looks.

  28. Thank the LORD she didn’t do “desi”… I am heaving a sigh of relief that I didn’t see one over-rated Indian designer on the red carpet this year, Khosla, Jani, Mukherjee, Malhotra et al. No thank you.
She has never looked better before, never looked this “international”, this appearance included… let’s leave it at that.

  29. I knew she was bound to go the beige/neutral route, the first day I saw her. If something works, like VB, ARB has to do it to death!!

And Abhi, it is called a razor and they sell them at every corner store. You’re welcome 🙂

  35. Desi? When was the last time our desi designers gave her something great to wear at Cannes?

The last one I recollect was Sabya’s gold and green look that she looked great in.

Frankly, I’m thrilled she chose the clothes she did. At least, we got to see her looking brilliant.

  36. No! We are not wishing for a desi appearance here. She is looking gorgeous! Why can you not concentrate on that? Or is it that she has not yet given you the chance to criticize, so decided to do it anyways!

  37. this look of ash is very boring…same as first and second look…repeated dress pattern…repeated hairstyle and makeup….this year sonam far better than ash..sonam was fantastic in each look…she was fresh and different..and her choice of dresses was gud in compare to ash…there was a perfection in sonam’s look…

  38. Wishing she wore some colors other than her totally off, over the top make up. Why can’t our women wear Indian clothes? Would it kill them to just wear at least ONE? Vidya thus far was the best appearance ever at Cannes.
