Letters
April 30th, 2008 at 1:38 am . by payalHey Payal and Pri,
I saw the post about the Letters section in your blog and decided to ask you guys something I’ve been trying to find for long.
First query -
I live in the US, but will be moving to India soon. I’ve never really gotten any designer bags, but am thinking of getting one. Nothing too high end, but rather in the budget range of max 300 or around.. I really like hobo bags, but recently started liking the shoulder totes as well.
I really want to get something that will last me long (won’t go out of fashion very fast), and will appeal to Indian surroundings as well.
I really don’t like the two strap types, would rather have a single strap - makes it easier to balance on the shoulder.
Second query -
I’ve also been looking for something that looks like this, but can’t find them anywhere! can you tell me what this style is called, your opinion on it and where can I find some nice models in this, without being too expensive?
Thank you so much guys!
Sue.
………………..
Dear Sue,
From the choices that you sent us, we loved the first one, the Michael Kors “Brookeville” Shoulder Tote.
If you are still not sold on the Kors (specially with the coming sale), here are two suggestions that will fit right in your budget. The Coach and the Dooney are both under $300 and are simple and elegant. The Coach also comes in a black in case you were worried about the cream.
Buy via Coach for $268
Buy via Dooney for $275
Being the bag fanatics that we are, we couldn’t resist the temptation to go a little beyond. We found two bags that although are a little above your budget, would be fantastic additions to your closet!
Buy the Marc By Marc Jacobs via Nordstorm for $475
Buy the Stevie via Kate Spade for $425
Regarding your second question, there is no specific name for the double handle hobo as such. It all depends on a particular bag’s style and we did find one thats really nice and thats on sale at Kate Spade for $263, which is quite a steal!
Buy the Carla via Kate Spade
Let us know what your final choice is to be!

April 29th, 2008 at 6:32 am . by payalShazahn Padamsee wore a strapless version of Priyanka’s dress recently. While, I didn’t care for Priyanka’s version earlier, after looking at the green version, I do prefer the brown and its halter style straps. What about you?

Matchy Away Or Match Do-Away?
April 29th, 2008 at 5:57 am . by payalThere are people who swear by matching their shoes, bags and belts and then there are those who believe its as passe as passe can be…often a matter of personal style, it does divide fashionistas into two different camps…

How Do We Break This Tie?
April 29th, 2008 at 4:59 am . by payalWe spotted Anjali Chawla and Sophie wear a tie differently, way differently. While one went chic, the other went quite “80s”. Which one worked and which fizzled?

Runway To Cover…
April 28th, 2008 at 4:28 am . by PriyankaWhen I saw Padma Lakshmi in this Lanvin Spring 2008 dress, I did think it was better suited for editorial purposes… Lo and behold, spotted Deepika Padukone in that very same Lanvin dress for L’Officiel cover…
Definitely, it makes for a better editorial dress over a red carpet one!

Channeling Celina?
April 28th, 2008 at 12:31 am . by payalWhy is it that when I saw Dia, it just reminded me of Celina?
Was it the white halter neck gown or the matronly pulled back hair, or both!?
